The 9th Carnival of Blue Stars
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Today, April 9th, is the Third Anniversary of Iraqi Liberation Day.
Our Warriors:
I hope that we will make sure these stories get told and ‘make the rounds’. Our heros deserve better than what they are getting and it’s up to us to make sure their stories are told. The MSM doesn’t seem interested unless it makes our Soldiers look bad.
Spank That Donkey shares the story of Father and Daughter Leathernecks Reunited in Iraq. The story is from Defend America.
Uncooperative Blogger has the story of now Marine Captain Brian Chontosh who received the Navy Cross for heroism when his platoon was ambushed. This story has been around a year or two - but I bet very few have actually heard it. He deserves some recognition.
Hoorah Wife shares an email from Major C serving in Afghanistan. He writes about the ‘unheralded quiet courage’ of the Afghani and Iraqi citizens who assist coalition forces at great personal risk.
You Betcha I’m a Proud Army Mom gives an Update on the Walter Reed Hospital Protest.
The Bodie Specter and Ben Stein appreciate our troops!
Kimdergarten is spending a long awaited weekend with her Ms. Blue.

Patriotism:
Seaspook’s Rants discusses an article by BadEagle, Last Call for Patriotism. I was genuinely moved by reading both of these posts. Dr. David Yeagley, aka Bad Eagle, expresses a real understanding of what is ailing America today, and what is needed to heal our beloved country.
The failure to love, to love something bigger then oneself, I think, is the root cause of American failure today. People lack nobility. People will not be denied their selfish desire for prosperity, for any reason. Whatever the cost, even if it costs nationhood itself, selfish people demand their material and social advancement. [...]
[...] People believe that by being born on earth, anywhere, they have the right to all America has. Moreover, they feel what America has was actually taken from them! In a pure, Satanic spirit, the masses of the world cry out in hatred of America, and demand that she turn over all the goods to the have nots. [...]
[...] Americans have betrayed their own countrymen. Americans–in Washington, in state capitols, in local businesses, have lied, cheated, defrauded, and disgraced this magnificent, God-given country of America. America is in a state of profound shame. The paralized liars in the courts, in the legislative halls cannot comprehend the situation. They are blinded by their own compromising characters. They have become unable to perceive reality, while they profess to be proclaiming rationality, compassion, and realism! [...]
Please go read it all. I had trouble picking parts of it to post here - it’s all good. It’s a message we NEED to hear!
The Median Sib posts Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death†speech of March 23, 1775. Does it apply to our world today?
ÂÂ
War on TerrorismÂÂ
Dadmanly has a problem with Underreporting. He asks why even the MILBlogs are not reporting much in response to John Kerry’s Op-ed, Two Deadlines and an Exit. He and The Rolling Barrage are also wondering why some startling casualty statistics are not being reported. Is Iraq a Quaqmire?
GPerson posts on America vs. the Prophet. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams faced the threat of Barbary piracy in 1786.
In their seperate negotiations with Ambassador Adja they were toldÂÂ
“that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Muslum who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”
AubreyJ reports on multiple weapon caches found in Iraq by US forces.
You can find a lighter look at Iran’s war games, at Is It Just Me? who explains a little of what Iran has in store for us in “Holy Cow, Batman” War Games. She has a series on the Iran war games, Holy Prophet War Games and Test Yourself on This.
ÂÂ
PoliticsÂÂ
Seaspook’s Rant has a Conservative Blogger Alert asking us to recognize how the left has used but not included American blacks. Embracing and supporting conservative values are black America’s best hope of realizing Dr. King’s dream of an enclusive nation. He has a list of blogs in support of black conservative leadership.
Wide Awake Cafe considers the elite intelligensia’s considerations as to whether or not we are at war. (also see her article on Flying the American Flag).

Blue Star…
Blue Star Chronicles has The Carnival of Blue Stars. We are very happy they selected one of our posts for inclusion…….
Just wanted to note that I got the Patrick Henry speech from Uncivil Rights (http://uncivilrights.blogspot.com/2006/01/for-liberals-and-pacifists.html). There’s a great post on it there. Just want to make sure I give credit where credit is due.
