I guess I’m not continental enough. I’m just an everyday ordinary American and I’m proud of it.

I’m not ashamed of the fact that our country is strong. We’ve earned it. We’ve fought hard for it. Why try to act like we aren’t? I don’t understand that. While there are blimishes in our history, I would challenge you to find a country with fewer blimishes. We’ve also done whatever we could to correct whatever errors we have found.

Maybe it’s that I don’t expect perfection. It doesn’t bother me that President Bush struggles with the word ‘nuclear’. I have a Southern accent, ‘nuclear’ doesn’t roll off my tongue gracefully either. But other words sound much nicer from me than from a Bostonian’s tongue.

Thank God for differences. It would be so boring if we were all the same.

There are things I don’t like that President Bush does. There are things I like that he does. I think he is trying to do what is good for this country and that is more important to me than any one particular issue.

I don’t expect him to not make mistakes. I do expect him to put the good of the country above his own political gain and poll numbers. As far as I can tell, he has done that.

I am so aggrevated right now I don’t even know where to go with this except to point out that we are in one of the most RIDICULOUS periods of of our history! The only thing that makes me think we’ll get through this is studying history. Apparently, Americans have done this sort of thing before. During the Civil War, Revolutionary War, and World War II.

So maybe we’ll pull together at some point.

I just keep thinking ‘Divide and Conquer’. The progressives are positively GLEEFUL. They think they have finally divided the Republican party with their ‘gotcha’ games. They are already decorating their Senate and House offices and salivating over the Presidency.

Go over and look at memeorandum. Well, it’s changed a little since I was over there earlier. But the top story is still the dems gloating and carrying on and salivating.

Then you scroll on down - way down - and you get to stories about the War on Terror.

How about this one from Jihad Watch about Hirsi Ali. The Dhimmis are trying to get her out of Europe. Cowardice nauseates me.

More gloating and planning for power by the dems. Then a story about the military abusing the troops.

Then more about how the poor liberals are being scapegoated and picked on. Boo hoo. Excuse me, I need a hankie.

Chappaquidick Teddy’s plane was hit by lightening. More about how the Republicans are insidiously and secretly conspiring to listen to you talk to your Aunt Jessie about knitting half the afternoon.

Then you get ALMOST to the bottom and there’s a story about Iran giving al-Quada in Iraq AA weapons. [and here] Whoops! We wouldn’t want that news to get out!

More accusations about Bush trying to protect our Country.

Then further down it seems the U.S. Embassy in Jeddah was attacked.

I can just see the smug look on Osama’s face while he listens to the U.S. news.

Headline: Bush approval ratings plummeting. What the headline leaves out is that Gore, Clinton and Kerry have LOWER approval ratings. Betcha don’t hear about THAT.

The issues our country is faced with right now are MUCH too serious to have knee-jerk reactions. We seem to all want to take one little flake of information and make an entire theory out of it.

How to deal with immigration problems? Will the next terrorists hit come from across the Mexican border? I don’t know. I seriously doubt it. But our borders are wide open all the way around. We can’t build that big a wall and I, frankly, don’t want to live behind a wall.

What is the answer? I don’t know. I think it’s complicated and a five and dime answer to it is not going to fix it.

What about Osama? Catching him isn’t the issue. If he’s gone another will take his place. al-Zarqawi is enough proof of that. When al-Zarqawi is gone, there’ll be another, an another, and another.

Don’t we wish it were that simple?

NSA? Please! There were video recorders in my kids school buses (during the Clinton administration).

When my son went over seas I set up a contract with my long-distance provider so I could call Europe without having to sell my house to do it. The provider shut off my phone. When I called to find out why they’d shut the phone off they said I had ’suspicious’ calls to Europe on my bill. They were ‘protecting’ me from someone using my account. That was the phone company - not the government.

Does anyone seriously think that with our current computerized society there are not lists being kept of phone numbers and contacts? Where do you think all your junk mail comes from? Those lists get sold all the time.

The senators that are screaming and wailing and knashing their teeth admit they approved the program. This is just the cause du jour. Today it’s NSA, yesterday it was immigration, last month it was Dubai, tomorrow it will be - whatever they think they can get people outraged over.

I heard Pelosi say she knew about the NSA program but didn’t understand the extent of it. If she approves programs she doesn’t understand, she needs to be voted out of office.

I’m sick of the partisan ‘gothca’ games that have put this entire country at risk. The dems, progressives have put their political power OVER the good of the country.

And a bunch of conservatives are reacting to every bit of information that’s being put out there without thinking it through.

And our enemies are loving every minute of it.
