I ran across this at Third World County. Being a blogger I clicked on his links to find out more about Blogger Fishing at Random Yak and The Platypus Society.
Even after I read about the Blogger Fishing game I swallowed the hook thrown out over at Life ~ Florida ~ Whatever. I’m not a very smart fish.
So I think I’ll throw my own line out.
Platypus created the game and you should check out his description of bloggers and why this game works … He explains the game rules:
For bait, I plan on using something that most bloggers find irresistible: Links. Bloggers are notorious for their compulsive habit of checking their hitcounter, Technorati ranking, or TTLB ranking to keep track of any new visits or links to their site. Below I have set the bait by posting links to a number of bloggers and have clicked on each one to help stir up the chum in the water. Feel free to click on the links below and visit these fine bloggers and help stir up the blogger feeding frenzy.
I’m baiting my hook and throwing it in the blogger pool. I’m picking a few blogs I like and read regularly to see if I get any nibbles.
Click the links cause they are worth reading. [Plus, as The Platypus says, clicking the links helps 'stir up the chum and get the bloggers to take the bair'.] If you get hooked, leave a message and/or trackback to let me know.
Let’s see, what fish shall I try to reel in …..
The Wide Awake Cafe [caught & released]
Carry on America [caught & released]
Hillbilly White Trash [caught & released]
A Rose by any Other Name [caught & released]
A Lady’s Ruminations [caught & released]
Okay - that’s enough for tonight. It takes me too long cause I start reading every one of the blogs! There are so many good blogs out there! I may add more tomorrow. We’ll see if I get any nibbles tonight
Besides, I have to check my blog stats tonight before I go to bed ….
gute Nacht
~~~~~~~~~~
Update: Excellent night fishing. I caught Random Yak - but threw him back in the water so the next person can catch him (he keeps getting caught! We might should start keeping track of how many people catch Random yak! lol)
I also caught Life ~ Florida ~ Whatever and Platypus. Threw them back too. But what good catches!
I’ve added onto the list above who I caught.
I’m keeping the line out to see who else gets reeled in :)ÂÂ
I guess I’m some kind of weird Yakfish that keeps coming up from the bottom to feed on anything anyone throws away. You caught me and you weren’t even fishing for me. Might not be much of a prize but at least I’m reliable…That, and you got me to stop lurking here and actually put up a comment for a change.
The people who admit to getting hooked
are a very small fraction of those who were hooked..
Blog stats are a riot!
Hey! Thanks for the link!
Really appreciate the link. It’s the first time I’ve heard the term blog fishing. Good term and good idea.
I’ve found that if you click on the links on your bait string, it helps stir up the chum and get the bloggers to take the bait. Plus if you’re clicking on someone else’s bait, you might get to see some new blogs.
Happy Fishin’
Thanks for the linkage! I like to check out the blogs that other people have on their “favorites” list and on technorati. I could spent days just reading blogs, but darn work gets in the way! Cute fishing game!
I too am a compulsive stats and blogroll checker. I usually end up in a whole new and wonderful world. I like the idea of blog fishing!
HA! Caught you all! I’m glad I got you to comment Yak!
Yankeemom - we are ALL compulsive stats checkers I think … so sad. But you are right. I’ve found some wonderful blogs that way.
There are so many I don’t know where to start or where to stop!
And THAT is why I have 2 Blog Rolls of my own and am on several others, I am ADDICTED…
Hi, my name is Fred, and I am a blog stats addict…
HI FRED….
Thanks for the link, Beth! Very interesting idea!
Ha! another one caught!!! lol
Thanks for the link. I shall devote my life to being worthy.
Got you Lemuel!
What kind of fish am I?
We just had a flathead catfish tournament around these parts this past weekend. I could be one of those.
Happy day!
Glug glug!
