This story is sickening to me. Tiffany Souers, a lovely 20 year old college student is raped and murdered by a habitual predator.

I have been bothered by this story more than usual for several reasons. I think the biggest reason is that it is not that uncommon to see someone who possesses hope and promise destroyed by someone with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Her murderer claims he is a ‘vicious animal’. He’s not a ‘vicious animal’, he’s a cowardly wimp who victimizes people weaker and smaller than he is. If he were a ‘vicious animal’, he would have fought the police when they came to get him. He got out early for ‘good behavior’ when he was previously incarcerated because he doesn’t fight anyone who can fight him back.

The photos of her murderer have taken over the airways now. Her story and her image have been replaced with sensational stories of the background and history of the evil-doer and his capture. The thought that this is the last face that girl saw is fodder for nightmares.

We’ve seen it before. Too many times before.

There is the case of Imette St. Guillen. She was brutally raped and murdered by yet another career predator. Her death was so gruesome that it’s difficult to read. Her murderer is now whinning that he has ‘bad karma’.

Do you remember Brooke Wilberger? She was also a college student who disappeared on May 24, 2004. Her remains have still not been found.

Her murderer, Joel Patrick Courtney was awaiting trial in the rape of a University of New Mexico student when he was charged with the murder of Brooke. He is suspected in a series of rapes and murders.

Brooke’s murderer is whinning that he wants a new court appointed attorney. Seems he didn’t like having a female attorney.

This could go on and on. There are so many of them. The common denominators are obvious. Pretty young females with promising lives ahead of them abducted and murdered by immature, mentally-ill, career criminals. The murderers are all cowardly whinners. They all have long rap-sheets. They all have previous records as sex offenders. They all have been released from prison. Their victims are dead and their families devastated and society is the worse for it.

Yet …. there are those who will defend the murderers. I heard someone on TV discussing the murder of Tiffany Souers. This guy was blaming the apartment complex. He said it didn’t have a fence and she lived in the back so she was vulnerable.

Hey - we are ALL vulnerable. Should we stay behind locked, barred doors at all times? Or should they?

These predators cruise around till they see opportunity. She was just his prey.

The anti-death penalty people will fight for this guys right to live. They will hold candle-light vigils outside his prison. They’ll declare he’s been rehabilitated and deserves another chance. They’ll recite all the ‘issues’ he has, his bad childhood, his abusive parents, his impotence. Whatever they can come up with in an attempt to make him sympathetic.

I have no sympathy for them. Society is better off without them. The ones they murdered are the ones who deserved to live. They are the ones who were innocent and offered something to society. My sympathy lies with them and their families.

These sexual predators are nothing but cowards and wasted human life. Worse, they waste the lives of others who would have been a benefit to our society.
