There’s just so much Murtha news and so little time. I hardly know where to start!
One thing I have been wondering is …. What are the chances that Irey can win the 12th Pennsylvania District Congressional seat? She doesn’t have as much money and people in Pennsylvania HAVE to be used to just automatically voting for Murtha since he’s been in Congress for 32 years.
People visiting from Pennsylvania ….. what are the chances Murtha won’t be re-elected? A lot of people would like to know how y’all feel about it. Leave comments and let us know - pretty please.
Do you think Murtha has a clue that he could be retired? Or has he been unopposed so long that he just doesn’t worry about it at all? He is, after all, already planning on being House Majority Leader.
His website doesn’t reflect someone who is overly concerned about communicating with his constituents. The front page has misspelled words and doesn’t capitalize Iraq. It’s a rather weak attempt to say he’s still focused on what his people want of him.
Thank you for your support and help as I remain focused on the values and issues most important to you. As we fight to protect Social Security, improve health care, and build our economy, the war in iraq continues and we face many challenges.
I remain unwaivering in my support for our troops, who have performed magnificently in Iraq and around the world, while insisting that we recognize our military is now caught in a civil war that can be settled only by the Iraqi people. I remain keenly focused on the domestic issues you have targeted as most important to you: the economy and jobs, the out-of-controlled deficit, and our veterans.
He also has a page with an elaborate explanation of how he has been misinterpreted:
- By suggesting our troops redeploy to Okinawa. I saw that Meet the Press segment and that IS what he said. He explains this on this page and it STILL sounds like what he said. The point he seems to miss here is that we NEED a force in the Middle East - somewhere in the Middle East. That IS where the fight is right now. Redeploying [the new catch phrase for retreat and surrender] the troops to Okinawa or the United States does not give us any leverage in the Middle East.
- By saying the United States is a bigger threat to world peace than Iran or North Korea. He had one of his people make a little chart to illustrate his point [in case you aren't smart enough to read it]. He defends himself by saying that poll shows that 10 out of 14 people in FOREIGN countries consider the US in Iraq more dangerous than Iran or North Korea. It looks to me that’s still what he’s saying. I also wonder why he’s more concerned about ‘foreign’ countries than his own constituency.
But I’m sure his constituents know he’s known for his pork barrel spending. He’s known for giving contracts to his brother and he is NOT known for his ethics.
Even with his weak explanations of some of his silly statements, he doesn’t even attempt to explain is why he called our Marines ‘cold blooded killers’. Or why he seems determined to give aid and comfort to the enemy during a time of war.
Moving on.
So, lets get on with what’s going on with Murtha and Irey here lately …..

Sheesh I think Okinawaaaaaaaaa could use him dont u?..lol..great read as always Beth!..Happy holidays hun!.:)
Murtha is pitiful. I think the people in Pennsylvania must be deaf and blind to keep electing him. He’s desperate in trying to get his name in the news - say anything, do anything to get a story. He’s sad - and dangerous.

I live on the other side of the state from this idiot, but if that half of the state is anything like the Philly half it will be next to impossible to vote him out. The patronage jobs on the local level are the key. They parties control the districts depending on how close the registration is split is what will decide the outcome.

Nothing really interesting going on with politics, so, let's check the DUmmies.

Despite an email warning to Mr. Pasco to contact Sharon Rosenhause, Managing Editor at the Sun-Sentinel, irey.com continues to maintain this page.
“Is Murtha channeling Marty McFly? Congressman’s June 27 press release magically includes information from … June 28?”
http://www.irey.com/news/Read.aspx?Id=61
In my email exchange with Mr. Pasco yesterday he attempted to float this clever headline with me in an email. I responded to him with this:
—————————————————————————-
If you really want to follow this “rapid crash journalism” course of action of yours, let me assist you in doing so properly. This is John Murtha’s original press release issued by Cindy Abram on June 27th.
http://theinfozone.net/PDFfiles/MurthaPressRelease.pdf
…
You can understand why Cindy Abram updated Mr. Murtha’s press release from the 27th now, I presume. After all, most would conclude that the Sun-Sentinel, who created this mess to start with, was in a better position to fix what Elizabeth Baier broke than theinfozone.net.
Please note: Ms. Baier as well as her editor Ms. Rosenhause are recipients of this email.
Mr Pasco(sic), perhaps they will be gracious enough to assist you towards a more lucid understanding of your “Marty McFly” insight.

Apparently Mr. Bill Pascoe puts more faith in continuing his slander strategy than makes sense.
Ms Rosenhause has her own special part in this. The Sun-Sentinel has removed their retraction … the correction that rewrote the “the shot heard around the world” first paragraph. The Sun-Sentinel has suddenly placed it in their paid archives, removing it from public domain. The only way you will find the unethical rewrite (still in public domain) is through google cache. You may wish to contact her as well.
