Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn) has committed one of the unpardonable sins in the democratic party. He is speaking freely and expressing thoughts and feelings that are not ‘progressive approved’.
He has made a statement:
“I have loyalties that are greater than those to my party.”
Appalling! How could he? Throw him to the lions!!
The left is having a hissy fit. They are crucifying him! They are sending him the way of other prominent democrats who have had the gall to exhibit independent thought.
All one has to do is take a gander around the blogsphere to see the pressure and down-right threats the left puts on anyone who doesn’t color exactly within the very firm and well-defined lines of that party.
This is my biggest irritation with the democratic party. It is what has made me vehemently distrust them over the past few years.
They put party affiliation ABOVE their country. It is evident in virtually everything they do. They are willing to lose a war to prove a Republican president is wrong. They will spread lies, disclose national security secrets and spew pure naked hatred at anyone who doesn’t endlessly mechanically repeat their talking points.
You’ve heard it, you know the drill: ‘this is an illegal war’, ‘Bushitler’, America is bad, America brought 9/11 on ourselves, America is hated around the world, sympathy for Palestine, critical of Israel, Republicans are intolerant morons, etc.
So Lieberman will go the way of Zell Miller and any other democrat who does not take the extreme socialist and/or communist views of the far left. Reasoned thinking and a willingness to work TOGETHER with their countrymen for the good of the country is not acceptable for them. It’s party above country at all costs.
They will similarly crucify anyone else who dares to break from their talking points. And they will praise someone who is willing to betray his country to affiliate himself with the power brokers of the left.
Their problem with him is that he understands why we are having to fight this war. The left doesn’t like they. Remember, they ‘support the troops, but not the war’. They don’t want anyone in their party who understands the danger because that gives legitimacy to the Bush administration – doesn’t matter that their position endangers the entire country.
How priviledged and protected would one have to be to not be able to see the danger that is looming all around us? What kind of cocoon would one have to live in? How naive would one have to be? How selfish can one possible be who would put their own agenda above that of the good of our nation – and the world?
The left is completely and utterly intolerant of anyone who doesn’t march to their drum. They will threaten, slander and bully anyone who steps out of line. If they don’t comply and get back in line they are doomed to an onslaught of bad press and vitriolic hatred.
Go to memeorandum to see how the left is trying to whip Lieberman back into shape.
75% of respondents on a poll at Daily Kos say that Lieberman is killing the democratic party. These are the same people who wanted to elect him Vice-President a few years ago. How fickle they are.
While you’re at teh Daily Kos take a look through the comments and notice how threatening they are. It’s in the words and phrases they use. It’s really appalling.

The Moderate Voice has a good round-up of reactions to Lieberman’s ‘political suicide’. [apparently political suicide is defined as standing up for what you believe in and putting love of country above love of a political party.]
Others blogging: A Blog for All and here, The Brothers Judd, Captain’s Qtrs,
I heard Hillary, and I know I heard a tv pundit brag about how in the Democratic Party, their “dissentiion” and lack of having a clear unified plan is a good thing because it shows that *ahem* unlike the Republican Party, they have allowed room for a variety of opinions. Uh, yeah. They’re really having a healthy tolerance for those within their ranks who actually supports President Bush on anything.
“I have loyalties that are greater than those to my party.â€Â
Sounds like something I said a while back when I said I was a Conservative 1st and claimed NO love for Dems OR Repubs…
And the reaction Joe is getting from the Dems sounds a lot like the reaction I got from the “Bush is God” matron and all of her followers…
Moonbats… All of em…
To thine OWN self be true…
And it’s “United we stand, NOT blindly we follow..” That one twisted her tail too… LMAO…
Exactly! They are guilty of virtually everything they accuse the conservatives of. It’s really uncanny to read their blogs and listen to them. They absolutely DEMAND compliance or they will make you out to be the devil.
Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
I agree with both of you actually. I want whats best for my country and will not blindly follow anyone. I’ve not met many Republicans who are Rebublican above anything else – I know there are a few – but I’ve heard a lot of critism withint the Republican party towards Bush and other Republicans. They/we are allowed to disagree.
The dems are experts at sound bites and saying something enough times so that ppl forget it’s not true.
Let them keep talking – their true colors start showing.
Great post, a BIG Happy July 4th to you. I love your blog so much and all you do.
No doubt most are already aware of Froma Harrop’s take on “Good Ol’ Joe” this morning, but just in case…etc.
Froma Harrop,Providence Jrnl, via RCP.Com: “The War Isn’t Lieberman’s Only Problem”
http://www.realclearpolitics.com
Here’s my problem: True “Good Ol’ Joe’s” a pickle. Hard to explain. A slippery kind’a guy. But there’s another aspect to the “Lieberman Conundrum” that bothers me these days; it kind’a drives me up the wall. First, let me say that I don’t live in that iddy-biddy, lovely state in question and thus can’t vote there in any case. Second, I don’t give a flying fig for Lieberman or his opponent. Third, I’m not “FOR” the GOP’s candidate either. What drives me up the wall is that I have this very deep gut feeling that this “issue” wouldn’t be an “issue” if the people of that state gave a damn about who they had representing them on their state party committees. You see, I contend that if they did, the dorks that are pulling the strings in Connecticut, and the dorks who are pulling the state’s string-puller’s strings, wouldn’t have string one to pull because these dorks wouldn’t be there in the first place. The bottom line is, Connecticut’s current cesspool of Dem’s-In-Charge want Lieberman out. So do the Neo-Com boys and girls at the DNC cesspool under Comrade Dean and Ted “The Red” Kennedy. Ergo, what are they doing? They’re stacking the deck against “Good Ol’ Joe” before the voters ever get to the ballot box. I guess I wouldn’t be so concerned about little Connecticut’s problem if I didn’t also believe that it was a problem in every other state of the Union. When people turn the management of their state and country and lives over to idiots and zealots, who is most responsible when things go haywire?
Wear Red on Friday – Round-Up…
