This is choice.
Somehow … mysteriously … in a private luncheon for the leaders of the G8 Summit … a microphone was on that picked up whatever President Bush said to others at the private luncheon.
Among small talk and light hearted banter were some serious statements. Interestingly, the words of the other leaders were not as easily distinquished. But Bush’s words came through loud and clear.

It wasn’t meant to be overheard. Private luncheon conversations among world leaders, picked up by a microphone, provided a rare window into both banter and substance _ including President Bush cursing Hezbollah’s attacks against Israel.
Bush expressed his frustration with the United Nations and his disgust with the militant Islamic group and its backers in Syria as he talked to British Prime Minister Tony Blair during the closing lunch at the Group of Eight summit.
“See the irony is that what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s— and it’s over,” Bush told Blair as he chewed on a buttered roll.
He told Blair he felt like telling U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who visited the gathered leaders, to get on the phone with Syrian President Bashar Assad to “make something happen.” He suggested Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice might visit the region soon.
You have to love this!!!
I don’t think there’s any doubt where America stands on this issue. We stand with Israel.
Go get ‘em!

Now, while I’d love for my word to be the ‘final word’ on the matter (*chuckle*), I know the only person who could convince the people who have taken issue with the ‘restraint’ comments would be the President himself. Hopefully the statements he made to Tony Blair that I quoted will provide some reassurances to those who believe he’s looked too ‘middle of the road’ on this issue.
Hot Air has the video. Expose the Left has video with transcript.
Michelle Malkin doesn’t have a problem with Cowboy Diplomacy either
FullosseousFlap’s Dental Blog wonders if it wasn’t meant to be overheard to build a fire under the UN.
Witnessing the United Nations and its worthless actions towards North Korea and Iran, there is little wonder why President Bush is frustrated with the United Nations. If the United Nations continues to be WORTHLESS, then why belong?
Euphoric Reality is more concerned that President Bush was talking with his mouth full. What happened to MANNERS!!!
All Things Beautiful has an EXCELLENT analysis (as always!).
But nothing beats our President’s no-nonsense remarks - unguarded with the mike accidentally left on whilst in St.Petersburg @ the G8 summit. You tell’em, ahem, and the rest of the world
She also speaks to why we fight:
Because occupation was a mere excuse to persuade gullible and historically ignorant Westerners to support the Arab cause against Israel. The issue is, and has always been, Israel’s existence.
[you tell em Alexandra!]
Gulf Coast Pundit says:
Hey you chicken littles, how do you like Texas styled with your morning coffee?
[I like it!]
Liberty and Justice has Blair’s side of the conversation as well and adds:
One of the most important aspects of the entire conversation (except of course for simply hearing how world leaders interact with eachother when there are no cameras present) I find however, is that it’s 100% clear that both fully support Israel and that both are determined to hold the ones responsible who actually are responsible.

UPDATE:
The left, of course, is responding with feigned horror at the President’s words and actions. One blog calls it embarrassing and wishes Bush would behave like a statesman rather than a ‘college jock’ [why does the image of cigars in the Oval Office come to mind with that comment?].
Then this very same blog proceeds to call the President a ‘dumbass’ and a ‘fuckhead’.Truly a class act. What really cracks me up is the writer apparently doesn’t see the irony of his/her comments.
I guess when it comes to liberals/progressives looking at something objectively it just depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is.

Returning Home From Russia and Space…
A microphone picked up an unaware President Bush saying on Monday Syria should press Hezbollah to “stop doing this sh*t” and that his secretary of state may go to the Middle East soon.Much ado about nothing but crap!!! Big deal, my words would have p…
Press Spies On Bush…
“See the irony is that what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this sh-t and it’s over,†Bush told Blair as he chewed on a buttered roll.
Bush didn’t know he was being monitored, but he’s effing right!!
If …
Hey, I know what you mean about the liberal blogs….one has already picked up one of my posts this morning….With me encouraging idiot Dean to keep yapping. (LOL)
Suzie - LOL - that’s too funny. I hope he does keep talking. The more he talks, the more America sees what he really is.
My oncle, who is very ‘left’ once half-jokingly said to me: you can say a lot about conservatives (I’m conservative, he’s far from), but if you want to have a good time, go to a pub with a conservative. They have a good sense of humor. Socialists, however, are boring and never laugh.
There’s a lot of truth to that.
This President is a “PIG”!!
I don’t care if he’s right or wrong, for a “President” to have the big mouth to talk in that way, is awful and show you the kind of human been this Bush is. We all know this wasn’t the President we all want for USA, but since the cheat is done, we at least expect this person to speak like a human not like the animal he seems to be!!
Roc - we live in a REPUBLIC. President Bush was duly elected President of the United States. It’s time you people started understanding what a republic is. Clinton was elected with 39% of the popular vote and people accepted that as the way our election process works. Your people need to accept that President Bush was elected with a higher percentage than Clinton and get over your resentment.
If you don’t want to live with the way our system works then you shouldn’t be living here. You can find plenty of failed socialist states to live in that might be more to your liking - try France.
I don’t know who you are referring to as ‘we’ — but most people DO like this President and support him. He is the President the people elected … TWICE.
But y’all need to keep thinking like y’all think and the democratic party will never win another election. Your delusional world is just not reality.
It’s truly messed up whats going on. These guys (Hizzies) think they can get away with murder literally, well now they know they were wrong. We’ve (the world) had to stomach thier antics long enough it’s about time someone put a stop to thier madness. On that note there are some guys putting out some pretty controversial gear, I don’t know if it’s coincidence but it’s perfect timing - has anyone else heard of them?
