TEHRAN, Iran Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged students Tuesday to push for a purge of liberal and secular teachers from universities, in another sign of his determination to stamp a strong Islamic fundamentalist revival on the country.

Earlier this year, dozens of liberal university professors and teachers were sent into retirement, and last November, Ahmadinejad’s administration for the first time named a cleric to head the country’s oldest institution of higher education, Tehran University — drawing strong protests from students.

His administration also has launched crackdowns on independent journalists, web sites and bloggers.

Still, the latest call was another sign that Ahmadinejad is determined to remake Iran — which still has strong moderate factions — reviving the fundamentalist goals pursued in the 1980s under the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, father of the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran.

This is one of the reasons it’s important to remember history. You know. The saying ‘If you forget history you are doomed to repeat it.’

While the liberals/progressives in our country are busy calling President Bush names like ‘hitler’ or ‘nazi’ they seem to not remember that the very fact they can call him that without consequence means that he is not what they are calling him.

On the other hand, Ahmadinejad will have them purged. And he’ll do it with a smile on his face. And it is interesting to me that the very same liberals who call our president those names, get all upset if someone says that about someone like Ahmadinejad (or Castro for that matter).

Whenever a fascist dictator takes control of a country one of the first things he does is ‘purge’ liberal journalists and liberal university professors.

Pretending it’s not so doesn’t make it go away.

You are free to continue to bad mouth America, our military and our President. You can thank a Patriot for that freedom. By all means, continue your partician word games. Our sons are over there in the sand box fighting so that you can run your mouths against your own country, to their detriment, and still keep your heads attached to your shoulders.

We will win, in spite of your best efforts.
