Confederate Yankee points out to us that there is a striking bit of news that is being decidedly under reported. If reported at all. He searched through main stream media site, after main stream media site and could not find a transcript of Ahmadinejad’s speech to the United Nations last night.

There are excerpts and analyses of his speech, relaying his proclamation that his nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

When he did find a transcript of the speech it was tucked way at the bottom of the page of the world section of the Washington Post.

As per Ahmadinejad’s speech, he perceives the Americans as lacking the will to do what needs to be done in Iraq and thereby prolonging the agony of the Iraqi people. He perceives this as an intentional act on the part of America to prolong the war and create more civil strife. He also perceives the capture and release of insurgence as further proof that America is attempting to prolong the war and create more human suffering among the Iraqis.

In reality all these events are the result of a culture cursed with an over abundance of leftist politically correct mumbo-jumbo and confusion about loyalties. I’m sure it is easily looked upon by other cultures as having ulterior motives, especially in the mind of a mad-man. How on earth could anyone explain a culture unwilling to defend itself and insistent on ‘fair’ fighting with a culture bent on it’s destruction. That doesn’t make sense in the rest of the world. It’s counter-intuitive and does not bode well for our culture’s survival.

If this were an accurate perception of our actions, that would mean our intentions were, indeed, evil. I suppose, in his twisted view of things, that would justify his apocalyptic vision for our future.

Among other things Ahmadinejad speaks to the rights of ’spirited youth’ to seek a ‘world free from decadence’. Ahmadinejad has been very clear in his previous speeches where, in his belief, the world’s decadence comes from. That would be us.

Today, humanity passionately craves commitment to the truth, devotion to God, quest for justice, and respect for the dignity of human beings. Rejection of domination and aggression, defense of the oppressed, and longing for peace constitute the legitimate demand of the peoples of the world, particularly the new generations and the spirited youth, who aspire to a world free from decadence, aggression and injustice and replete with love and compassion.

The youth have a right to seek justice and the truth and they have the right to build their own future on the foundations of love, compassion and tranquility. And I praise the almighty for this immense blessing.

So, it seems, the ’spirited youth’ of Iran are encouraged to rid themselves and their future of the decadence of the West.

It is the ending of the speech that has been conspicuously left out of the reporting. Perhaps because its the end of his speech that displays his apocalyptic vision. In the end, Admadinejad prays for the return of the 12th Iman.

Together we can eradicate the roots of bitter maladies and afflictions and, instead, through the promotion of universal and lasting values, such as ethics, spirituality and justice, allow our nations to taste the sweetness of a better future.

Peoples, driven by their divine nature, intrinsically seek good, virtue, perfection, and beauty. Relying on our peoples, we can take giant steps towards reform and pave the road for human perfection.

Whether we like it or not, justice, peace and virtue will sooner or later prevail in the world, with the will of the almighty God. It is imperative and also desirable that we, too, contribute to the promotion of justice and virtue.

The almighty and merciful God, who is the creator of the universe, is also its lord and ruler. Justice is his command. He commands his creatures to support one another in good, virtue, and piety, and not in decadence and corruption.

He commands his creatures to enjoin one another to righteousness and virtue, and not to sin and transgression. All divine prophets, from the prophet Adam, peace be upon him, to the prophet Moses, to the prophet Jesus Christ, to the prophet Mohammad, have all called humanity to monotheism, justice, brotherhood, love and compassion.

Is it not possible to build a better world based on monotheism, justice, love and respect for the rights of human beings and thereby transform animosities into friendship?

I emphatically declare that today’s world, more than ever before, longs for just and righteous people, with love for all humanity, and, above all, longs for the perfect righteous human being and the real savior who has been promised to all peoples and who will establish justice, peace and brotherhood on the planet.

Oh, almighty God, all men and women are your creatures and you have ordained their guidance and salvation. Bestow upon humanity that thirst for justice, the perfect human being promised to all by you, and makers among his followers and among those who strive for his return and his cause.

To understand the significance of this prayer we need to understand a little more about Ahmadinejad and his religion.

Ahmadinejad belongs to the radical Hojjatieh sect of Shia Islam. The sect holds to an apocalyptic vision of the world. He was and is a student of Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi

The Hojjatieh movement is considered to be so radical that it was banned in 1983 by the Ayatollah Khomeini and is still opposed by the majority of the Iranian clerics, including the Supreme Leader of the Supreme National Security Council, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei. That should be telling in and of itself. That opposition notwithstanding, it is believed that several adherents of the Hojjatieh sect are in Cabinet-level positions in Ahmadinejad’s government.

Most Shiites await the return of the 12th Shiite Imam, Muhammad ibn Hasan, the last direct male descendant of the Prophet Mohammed’s son-in-law Ali, who disappeared in 874AD and is believed to be in an invisible, deathless state of existence, or ‘occultation’, awaiting his return. Though it is discounted even by the most extremist clerics, a popular belief in Iran holds that the 12th Imam, also called the Mahdi or the sahib-e zaman (’the Ruler of Time’), lives at the bottom of a well in Jamkaran, just outside of Qom. Devotees drop written requests into the well to communicate with the Mahdi. His reappearance will usher in a new era of peace as Islam vanquishes all of its enemies. The Sunnis, who reject the successors of Ali, believe that the Mahdi has yet to be born.

But rooted in the Shiite ideology of martyrdom and violence, the Hojjatieh sect adds messianic and apocalyptic elements to an already volatile theology. They believe that chaos and bloodshed must precede the return of the 12th Imam, called the Mahdi. But unlike the biblical apocalypse, where the return of Jesus is preceded by waves of divinely decreed natural disasters, the summoning of the Mahdi through chaos and violence is wholly in the realm of human action. The Hojjatieh faith puts inordinate stress on the human ability to direct divinely appointed events. By creating the apocalyptic chaos, the Hojjatiehs believe it is entirely in the power of believers to affect the Mahdi’s reappearance, the institution of Islamic government worldwide, and the destruction of all competing faiths.

Confederate Yankee notes that in his 2005 speech to the United Nations, Ahmadinejad reported he felt he was surrounded by the light of the divine:

“I am not exaggerating when I say they did not blink; it’s not an exaggeration, because I was looking,” he says. “They were astonished as if a hand held them there and made them sit. It had opened their eyes and ears for the message of the Islamic Republic.”

Who is this hidden Iman?

‘The trouble with you secular people is that you don’t realize how firmly Ahmadinejad believes - literally - in things like the winged horse. By choosing this date for his decision, he is telling his followers that he is going to obey his religious duty.

‘And he believes that his religious duty is to create chaos and bloodshed in the “infidel” world, in order to hasten the return of the Mahdi - the Hidden Imam. So don’t expect him to behave, in your eyes, “reasonably”.’

So who is this Hidden Imam? He was a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed who, at the age of five, disappeared down a well around AD940. He will only return after a period of utter chaos and bloodshed, whereupon peace, justice and Islam will reign worldwide.

There are a couple of messages here that we need to hear but seem to keep not hearing. One of those messages is that Ahmadinejad truly believes what he has repeatedly stated. That is his belief that it is his duty to create chaos and destruction to hasten the return of the 12th Iman. Being of our culture, it is difficult for us to wrap our minds around this type of belief and the diligence with which someone like Ahmadinejad will pursue his goal.

Another message is that we as Westerners are culpable in, is that we are refusing to hear the message. Our media is downplaying it and even when we hear it we rationalize it away. We are so comfortable in our lives. The war is ‘over there’ after all. We make precious few sacrifices in our daily lives, so we push these thoughts of Armageddon aside and instead worry about which blouse to wear with our black suit tomorrow.

While we are busily trying to be politically correct and working so hard to not appear to be bullies, Ahmadinejad is calling his tribe together and pulling in alliances that he will use to his purpose of our destruction.
