Just looking around to see what people are blogging about …..
Hyscience tells us the story of an Iraqi policeman who sacrifices himself to keep a homicide bomber from killing others.
Too many politicians in Washington, both Democrat and Republican, are far too quick to join the mainstream media’s agenda in saying the Iraqis just want to kill each other and are unwilling to make sacrifices.
Michael Yon also has a story of an Iraqi who chose Martyrdom when faced with a homicide bomber. His actions thwarted a bomb attack.
Unproven claims successfully disguised as facts in the media can be persistent obstacles to finding the truth. Once something is put in print, it becomes referenced as fact by other people who seldom check the source. There was a time when American soldiers were derided in the press for wearing sunglasses in Iraq. Someone had the notion that sunglasses were deeply offensive to Iraqis, many of whom also wear sunglasses. In the retelling of terrorist attacks in Iraq, key details are often left out while others insinuate themselves into places they don’t belong. So it was for the thwarted bomb attack in this village, which quickly found its way into media reports, described as yet another incident of sectarian violence, which on some level it was.
From the serious to the bizarre … Improper Alabama found an article comparing Super Bowl advertisements’ violence with the war in Iraq. Oh …. okay.
The Median Sib has been keep up with the Mary Winkler case. Reading her latest article on the subject makes me wonder if Mary Winkler is just flat out going over the edge.
7.62 Justice takes note that a 9th truce has been announced between Hamas and Fatah while continuing to fight. There’s a bit of a problem with this truce because both sides are palestinian, so who’s supposed to quit shooting?
Usually when a Palestinian group declares a truce, they expect the other side to stop shooting.
