The War on Terror is NOT a Bumper Sticker
The few times I’ve heard the news today, I’ve heard about the plot to blow up JFK Airport that was foiled today.
It is interesting listening to the media’s take on the terrorists plot. Various ‘experts’ are interviewed and various talking heads give their opinions as to what is happening, what the arrests mean and if there really is any danger from jihadists these days.
I find it particularly interesting that as the day has progressed the MSM has progressively been reporting the plot in a more reassuring way. We mustn’t think that the jihadists are still fighting the Global War on Terror against us after all. The War on Terror is just a bumper sticker slogan used for political reasons. That is what we are being told and we are expected to believe it. The attacks of September 11, 2001 were just a fluke. Time to move on and get back to worrying about our portfolios, not terrorists.
One of the common topics I keep hearing from the MSM is that this group is not al-Qaeda. That is reported as though it is reassurance that it is therefore not as threatening. What is particularly frustrating is that most people will take that as reassuring. Most people don’t understand that al-Qaeda is one of any number of islamic fascist groups whose lives are centered around the goal of destroying us and Israel.
Anyone with a loved one fighting the Global War on Terror, whether in Iraq or Afghanistan, has probably heard of Jamaat-al-Muslimeen (JAM). We’ve heard of JAM because that group, along with al-Qaeda, is who our loved ones are fighting in Iraq (and probably Afghanistan too). My limited understanding is that JAM is the shia version of the sunni al-Qaeda. Same types of organizations, same goals of forcibly spreading fundamental forms of islam globally and destroying Israel and the USA, same discipline, same philosophies, same jihadist ideologies, same violent methods, same military training. The difference is that they are of different tribes.
The point is that this isn’t a group that gathered together a few losers who joined islam in prison and had loosely defined plans to make a big boom somewhere on American soil. This is a well organized, violent, well funded, and deadly group. It’s not just a handful of people but an organization who has operatives all over the world.
The fact that they were in the process of a well thought out and devastating plan to blow up JFK airport and the surrounding burrows is proof that the War on Terror is NOT a bumper sticker.
What’s more disconcerting is that there are others, a lot of others, and they are all over the world. Worse, they are all over the United States.
No, it is definitely NOT a bumper sticker.
Angel at Woman Honor Thyself says we should have no fear. The democrats have banned the term ‘Global War on Terror’ claiming it’s a ‘propagandist term’.
Teach at the Pirate’s Cove is always a good source for finding out what the leftists are saying. You can go there and find out without have to dive in the dumpster yourself. It’s a great and selfless service he provides. As expected, they are minimizing the threat. Unfortunately, there’ll be a day when they can no longer minimize it.

That exactly right. The MSM keeps saying “they were in the EARLY stages …. they had no expertise … they had no explosives … ” ABC said, “Authorities CLAIM to have busted a terror plot” What? Do they want to wait until they actually blog up NJ and NY, and THEN believe these guys are serious? I just don’t get it.
