Everyone is busy dissecting the tape of Osama bin Laden that came out yesterday. Was it really recent? Why is his beard black? When was it taped? What did he mean by this that or the other?

Its important to understand the messages in his video. But the main message is in danger of getting lost in all the analysis. As Jim at bRight and Early points out, the message is really simple. Convert to Islam or we will kill you.

“There are two solutions to stopping it. One is from our side, and it is to escalate the fighting and killing against you. This is our duty, and our brothers are carrying it out,” bin Laden said.

“The second solution is from your side,” he said. “I invite you to embrace Islam.”

I don’t know how much clearer he could be. Its the same message that we have received repeatedly from him and other leaders in the muslim world. Convert and live as a slave to islam or die.

If it is acceptable to you to live under islamic law than we leave Iraq and Afghanistan and allow them to take over the region and abandon our own republic to them. If that’s not acceptable to you, then we start taking this threat more seriously and fight.

This is a war of ideologies. It is a war between islam and Western civilization.

It couldn’t be more simple or any clearer.
