First Lieutenant Pete Hegseth, Executive Director of Vets for Freedom, went to see the hollywood film Redacted so that he would be able to speak on it. It seems he was one of about 10 people who actually paid to see American Soldiers slandered. The film actually grossed around $25,000 on its opening weekend.
As you might know, Redacted is a movie by Brian De Palma based on the story of a sociopathic soldier who went into the home of an Iraqi girl, raped her and killed her and her family. This was a terrible incident in the war that took a dominant place on the front pages of news media for a good long period when it happened. It was an isolated incident and the soldiers involved in this incident have been tried and convicted and are serving life sentences. De Palma has chosen to portray this incident - out of all the things that have happened in Iraq - as though behavior like this is the norm, rather than an isolated exception. In fact, I don’t know of a single other incident of this nature that has happened there.
De Palma makes no secret that his intent is to slander our Soldiers.
You would think that with an opening weekend as dismal as this movie has had would be a message to Hollywood. We know that the bottom line is money. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter to them that the people of our country don’t want to go see a movie that slanders our Troops and paints America as a big bully. The movie will go to CD and it will be distributed overseas. I’m sure that De Palma feels he will make his money from the overseas market that is more than willing to believe that our Soldiers are monsters.
This sort of movie that is distributed to our enemies and others overseas is directly responsible for the deaths of American Soldiers. It plants the seeds and then nurtures the myth that American Soldiers are heartless sociopaths who are on bloodthirsty rampages. This feeds into whatever justifications our enemies use in dehumanizing and killing our Soldiers. On top of that, they believe they have the blessings of hollywood, if not the American public to murder our Troops.
We obviously need to boycott these anti-American and anti-military movies. But it seems that it needs to go further. Perhaps boycotting movies made by these people regardless of their subject.
I still don’t understand what these people get out of portraying our military in the worst possible light. I don’t understand what they get out of portraying our country in such a horrible light. Do they think it makes them ‘cool’? Do they seriously think the world would be a better place if the United States fell? Who would send aid and Troops to help other countries that have had catastrophes or are in need if not for us?
Not only do we not convict people for treason anymore, but most of the time they are the most prosperous people because of the system they are trying to undermine. It defies reason.

Sunday Evening Bloglines 11.18.2007…
This is a very good article which voters should read. … I do promote truth, whether or not it hurts. After all, which do you value more? Truth? Politics? With Romney, you have to wonder about both, IMHO. If you truly do stand with Romney, read Greg…..

. Anyway point is I thought I’d try and put something back into the community so I’ve written a little plugin folks might like. You can find it if you click through to my website. If you don’t like it just delete this comment. Thanks for your time.
Hollywood, movie stars and directors live in their own little bubble of unreality. They are pampered, vastly overpaid and know, just know they are entitled because of who they are and what they do. It’s a world that has zero values, where any citizen would stab his own mother in the back if he got a part, sold a script or got a green light for a project. Lies are normal and stealing is okay. Same with drugs; they are entitled so why not use whatever they want? Consequences? Don’t make me laugh! The real tragedy is they see Iraq and our military through the same skewed, sick prism they hold up for others. Thus, fantasy becomes reality, lies become truth and noble warriors morph into savage barbarians. The only way to get their attention is to boycott all movies and picket in front of every theater showing these distorted little pieces of time.
I would hate for returning Iraqi Vets to go through what many Vietnam-era vets did when they came home: they were roundly castigated and pigeon-holed as “babykillers” and routinely spat upon.
The really sad, sad thing is a good anti-war movie can be made without slandering the soldiers. If today’s Hollywood had any brains, talent, conscience or ethics, they would make a modern “All Quiet on the Western Front” or “Paths of Glory.” But that would involve meeting and knowing some of the same fine people they’ve been damning.
Hollywood’s transparent politics are usually worthless to me, but in this case I’m enraged.
For example, you would think a low budget film like Bella, which became a hit and has a moving lesson about life, would send Hollywood a message about what kinds of films the public would like to see. What the public does not want to see are anti-American and anti-war films, which are largely rejected. Does Hollywood listen? It appears not because they have an agenda and that agenda seems to drive them more than mere entertainment does.
There are some amazing stories that have come from Iraq - stories about generosity, sacrifice, and astonishing courage. Any one of them would make an inspirational film, but don’t expect a movie about them anytime soon.
Such a shame, too…many of those men and women in uniform give the rest of us something to be proud of.
