Sharon Stone Says 4,000 American Soldiers Dead is Nothing Compared to Dead Iraqis
Sharon Stone, the actress best known for flashing Michael Douglas in the movie Basic Instincts, has spoken to middle eastern newspapers about her disdain for American policies and most things American. BTW, she’s pictured here in an outfit, including elaborate fur, that probably cost more than I make in a year. I’m just saying …. America has been pretty good to the old girl.
Mz. Stone went to the Dubai International Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates and bad-mouthed the United States to the Arab press. Needless to say, the Arab newspapers have taken her words and run with them, terrorist organizations are applauding her and she’d be real popular there if she’d just put on a burka and keep her legs closed for more than a minute at a time.
CAIRO, Egypt - Hollywood icon Sharon Stone believes the Sept. 11, 2001 bombings of the United States should not have been used as a pretext to launch the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to comments published Monday in a Saudi-owned newspaper.
The actress said in an interview with the Al Hayat daily that she fails to understand how the American public supported those wars to start with, only to denounce their fallout later. She also bemoaned what she called America’s decision to ignore the deaths of so many Iraqis.
“When we choose war, we should understand that we choose murder, bloodletting and torture,” Stone told the newspaper.
“I feel at great pain when the spotlight is on the death of 4,000 American soldiers, while 600,000 Iraqi deaths are ignored . . . War is not a movie, it is a tragedy of dead bodies, victims, the disabled, orphans, widows and the displaced.”
Stone spoke in English and her comments were translated and published in Arabic. An English transcript of the interview was not available.
Al Hayat published only excerpts of the interview, done in December when Stone attended the fourth Dubai International Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates. The paper’s sister publication, Leha, was to publish the entire interview Wednesday.
Stone said she came to the region seeking answers for herself because the U.S. media have failed to provide Americans with the truth and have distorted it instead.
“I feel sad when I realize how much truth is being changed or obscured in the American media,” she said.
Stone added she opposes any military conflict with Iran, saying the West should instead negotiate and use other means of pressure on Tehran, such as a trade boycott and sanctions.
The star of “Basic Instinct” and other movies also criticized both Arab countries and Israel for failing to resolve the decades-long key Middle East conflict.
The region is now “addicted” to the status quo and whenever a solution is close, hysteria prevails instead, Stone was quoted as saying. “People sometimes get used to their choices and they fear change.”
In Dubai, Stone also campaigned to raise over US$1 million for AIDS research and awareness about the disease which remains taboo in the Arab world.

I have three things to say about her words:
a) I’m always amazed at people like her. Yes, in this case she has a very high IQ (I think it is 220) but even considering that, she has no prior experience of qualifications to speak about this. Yet, the MSM are eager to know what this people think… It’s amazing. Why her ideas are more important than mine or yours? Just because she is a reknown actress???
b) even what she said of war is true (that piece about bloodletting and destruction…), some times is not the less bad resource, it’s just the ONLY one.
c) it’s curious that people who have had a so “free” sexual life (several partners in life, has married also several times) are supporting Islamists… who are killing women for not wanting to marry the one the family has approved for them, stoning them for adulterers or killing them for wearing make-up or not dressing appropriately. Very telling…

I don’t care what her IQ is the only thing she’s ever done is spread her legs for the whole world to see. She’s gotten too old for anybody to want to see her do that anymore so it looks like she’s run out of things to do to make money. She’s got no business running her mouth about things she doesn’t know anything about.

Sharon Stone has made her thoughts known on the subject of how the USA has acted, If the USA truly believes in free speech (all non-USA peoples stop laughing),then why use gutter type, mud smearing, mob rules ways to try and undermine the opinions miss Stone expressed? Why would anyone resort to such tactics if free speech was really valued?
May be it is time that the American people started to think for themselves and really find out what their own country is actual up and what the rest of the world think of their country and stop taking the fiction films they see for real information programs.

Well put Veronica. Most American’s don’t stop to think before they shoot off their mouth. The only freedom we have is free speech and somehow this concept has been twisted into free speech equals what we hear on TV.
There is no need to think or read or do any independent research as these take time and effort. I hope most of the foolish comments are simply coming from teenagers.
Our boys are not fighting in Iraq to keep us free, that is absolutely insane to even think in your brain. They are not fighting to establish democracy in Iraq either. Read the history behind the formation and growth of Iraq and maybe a light bulb will come on. Read something that comes from someplace other than the major USA News outlets about how much death and suffering we have ALL caused on innocent people.
To the stupid fool who suggests this is the only course, you need to get out and see the world and do some growing up because nobody deserves to watch their children and entire family and neighborhood die in agony. You should be ashamed to be so ignorant.
The Saudi’s bombed the trade centers, the poor Iraqi people just took the blame so we could secure the worlds second largest oil field valued in the many TRILLIONS. Money which you and I will never see as we will be paying $4.00 a gallon by summer and it is unlikely to ever go back down.
How many American boys have to die for your ignorance America? 10,000, 50,000, 100,000, how about 1,000,000. The sad part is in 20 years when we do hit 100,000. we will still have the same ignorant people saying its a small price to pay for our freedom.
