Obama Marxism

Russian columnist Stanislav Mishin writes about what he calls the American descent into Marxism. Published in Pravda, his article outlines the steps the Obama Administration and Democratic Congress have and are trying to destroy Capitalism and take us down a path towards Marxism ‘with breath taking speed,’. Read about it below.

Obama Marxism

Obama and Marxism

I spent today in the Czech Republic. Its the first time I’ve ever been there at all. We went to Karlovy Vary, otherwise known as Karlsbad, Czech Republic. I’m told that the city is also known as Little Moscow. It certainly felt that way, however that might feel. In crossing a border between one country and another, we had left the West and entered into a totally different world. That’s not unusual, of course, but it was striking in this case.

As we traveled through the country towards town, I found myself wondering how many years, or generations, does it take a country to recover from generations under the thumb of a Communist government. The Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990s and still the countries of the Soviet bloc are struggling to regain the dignity and prosperity that come with freedom. Prostitutes and brothels lined the highway. The highways were under construction, but the workers were standing around smoking and talking. It appeared that little work was being accomplished. What looked to have once been quaint villages were run down and their houses dilapidated. The same countryside that was charming on one side of the border appeared rough, disheveled and tired on the other side.

The town center of Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) is lovely. Warm springs, spas, grand hotels, restaurants and shops of every description inhabit magnificent buildings that line the cobblestone streets on either side of the river that flows through the center of town. However, one block in any direction from the well-heeled center of town is desolation and poverty that would do any large urban area shame. We parked our car a few blocks away and I watched a young, pale couple digging through large garbage dumpsters, eating and drinking whatever food and drink they found. They feasted there for quite a while before they moved on. Homeless laid on grassy areas just off the sidewalks, covering themselves with coats against the cold rain and wind. People were walking everywhere, many disheveled, none friendly, few appeared happy and all appeared quite willing to charge us as much as they thought we’d pay for whatever they were trying to sell.

We took a buggy ride in town. The driver was decked out in period clothing and alternated between German and English while describing the various sites we were passing. When we passed an ornate cathedral, a German friend riding with us asked her if she was Catholic. She said that she was not. She explained that they don’t have religion there. She went on showing the sites. I was struck by the fact that the building had all been done centuries ago, when the area that is now the Czech Republic had been a part of Austria. I want to ask her had there been any accomplishments, buildings, artists, philosophers since then, but I didn’t. She explained that Karlsbad is known as Little Moscow because wealthy Russians have restored that area of town and own the few blocks of businesses we saw during our carriage ride.

And that brings me back to Stanislav Mishin’s article on the American decent into Marxism. The point is, he would know. Most Russians would know. Most people who have lived in countries that were part of the Soviet Bloc would know. In his article, American capitalism gone with a whimper, he points out that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has warned the U.S. and the U.K. about Marxism, from the perspective of a country that suffered under that kind of oppression for 70 years. He outlines the process of change from dumbing down the population, to control of what is taught in schools, to ridding the population of pesky little things like religion and personal responsibility and accountability, to the hostile takeovers of free enterprise and a system based on a competitive market, to big government controls on salaries, the stock market and more.

He gives props to Obama and the Democratic Congress for the speed with which they are changing the entire American system of government with virtually no opposition. He notes that our Congress seems to lack a voice, or courage, to stand up against the tidal wave that is rolling over American Capitalism.

I’ve wondered about that myself.

Where are our Statesmen? Does anyone have the courage of their convictions anymore, or do we just blindly follow while everything is taken away from us and horded for the privileged few who are fortunate enough to be part of the inner circle of power?

The problem is, of course, Americans have enjoyed unprecedented freedoms for so many generations that we don’t think it can happen to us.

A Marine veteran of Vietnam has been been threatened by his condo Home Owners Association, saying his car will be towed, at his expense, if decals on his auto are not removed. The Marine vet threatened is Frank Larison, and his car decal controversy is stirring up other homeowners. See photos and view a video below.

Marine Vet Car Decal

Mr. Larison has lived in his condo complex for about eight years. He received a letter from his HOA telling him to remove the offending decals and characterizing them as “advertising.” Mr. Larison says they are not advertising, they are patriotic, and besides that, “you can’t buy freedom.” In addition to the threat of towing his car, this vet is threatened with a monetary fine “if” he crosses the HOA in the future.

Is it possible that Britain’s Got Talent finalist Susan Boyle could possibly use the “F” word in full view of fans, police and family – and more than once in a two-day Rambo-style rant? That’s what some British media are reporting, and neighbors say that Susan Boyle, the hometown girl, is nicknamed “Rambo” around the neighborhood. The 48-year-old Ms. Boyle, who took the world by storm when she walked onto the Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) stage and stunned the judges with her rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables, is said to be in meltdown mode in the spotlight’s glare, and under pressure from other talented finalists. Can Susan Boyle be a ranting Rambo? Can the “Angel” have a temper? See photos and videos below.

Yongbyon 5MWe Magnox reactor

Just days after an underground test of a nuclear bomb, North Korea has threatened U.S. and South Korean Warships that are patrolling the disputed maritime border. South Korea has said that it would search suspect ships, and North Korea in turn says that that is equal to a “declaration of war”.

Yongbyon Nuclear Facility

The U.S. is currently leading what is called the Proliferation Security Initiative; a program to search and intercept suspected ships that may be aiding North Korea in proliferation of nuclear weapons. The South Koreans joined the initiative and the North decided to do a little saber rattling. They are now warning the United States and South Korea that any attempt to board or intercept ships could be met with retaliation.

In a statement from North Korea’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said:

“Now that the South Korean puppets were so ridiculous as to join in the said racket and dare declare a war against compatriots (North Korea is) compelled to take a decisive measure.”

South Korea had previously held off joining the Proliferation Security Initiative in hopes of seeking reconciliation with Pyongyang. The underground test of nuclear weapons spurred the South to join the United States led initiative and has further isolated the North.

In threatening U.S. and South Korean civilian and military vessels off the coast of the western maritime border, Pyongyang said that they could no longer guarantee those ships safe passage.

“They should bear in mind that the (North) has tremendous military muscle and its own method of strike able to conquer any targets in its vicinity at one stroke or hit the U.S. on the raw, if necessary,” it said.

United States spy satellites have detected that North Korea has restarted its Yongbyon nuclear plant; a development that is disconcerting to the United States and South Korea as they had looked to gain ground in talks with the rogue state which had never really taken off.

The maritime border with South Korea has been an issue of contention with the North since the end of the Korean war in the early fifties; and it has been the source of a couple of skirmishes in the past ten years. This however has the potential to become very volatile, with North Korea actually threatening U.S. warships.

Arlington National Cemetery is often called a place were courage and valor lie. This Memorial Day weekend, like many others before it, soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Regiment, known as “The Old Guard,” as well as other ceremonial units from each branch of the military have placed more then 260,000 American flags on the graves of Arlington. It’s called “Flags In”.

Flags In

Arlington National Cemetery – Flags In

I am one of those who think Arlington National Cemetery is an incredibly beautiful place; sacred ground. Did you know that more than 300,000 people are buried at Arlington, an area of 624 acres? Veterans and military casualties from every one of our nation’s wars are interred there, from the American Revolution through Afghanistan and Iraq. Our pre-Civil War dead were reinterred there after 1900.

Since 1948, the Old Guard have participated in “Flags In”, and they take their job very seriously. With rucksacks full of flags, more laying in large wooden crates along Arlington’s drive, they place a flag at each gravesite — one foot from the base. Their mission each Memorial Day is to ensure that those whose resting place is there, is honored for their sacrifice and service. It’s important to do so, especially on the day set aside to honor the sacrifices of the brave souls buried there.

Sometimes, members of the Old Guard can be seen pausing and saluting as they place a flag on certain graves, like those of Medal of Honor recepients, such as 19 year old SPC Ross A. McGinnis who gave his life, by throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his fellow Soldiers. The Old Guard Soldiers will also remain in the cemetery to stand watch throughout the Memorial Day weekend – an incredibly noble act.

Of course Arlington National Cemetery isn’t the only place where you’ll see a sea of flags proudly waving at the graves of fallen warriors. In Veterans Cemeteries across the country, a similar mission was accomplished. And in civilian cemeteries, you’ll also see flags standing proudly on the graves of military veterans. So as you go about your weekend, whatever you have planned, take time to think about what these men and women have willingly given all for us in the cause of freedom. Remember their sacrifice and honor their memory.

President Obama and the democrats became conservatives for a day when the House of Representatives approved the Weapons Acquisition Overhaul Bill 411-0, and President Obama signed it into law. The measure is designed to curb wasteful spending at the Pentagon.

On the South Lawn of the White House, President Barack Obama signed the Weapons Acquisition Bill and then began to wax eloquent about the need to stop wasting taxpayer money on needless defense spending. Too bad the President doesn’t feel the same way about other parts of his budget.

Of course Obama said he would do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of this country, but that we don’t have to overspend by billions to do it. I agree, but I think we can also climb our way out of this recession and economic crisis without overspending billions as well; but that isn’t going to happen.

There isn’t going to be a Entitlement Acquisition Bill anytime in the foreseeable future; Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, and thousands of nameless special interest groups will continue to receive funds from you and me. The military will be reprimanded publically for overspending and a big to do made out of a bill designed to curb spending on defense projects; all the while Acorn and their subsidiaries will receive 4 billion dollars of federal monies to do whatever it is they do.

The Pentagon is like any other government bureaucracy; they will spend money like it’s going out of style and they will do it wastefully. Obama needs to have a few more ceremonies on the South Lawn, signing more bills that will curb spending on domestic programs. But let’s not go crazy now, Obama is who he is, and the democrats are who they are; signing the Weapons Acquisition Bill into law and making a public statement about the wasteful spending of the Pentagon is about as conservative as President Obama will ever be.

Obama has already requested that Defense Secretary Gates cut the defense budget by nixing weapons including F-22 fighter’s that cost more than originally expected. I’m glad for Obama that he at least has the Pentagon and defense spending to fall back on when he starts to catch heat about spending.

On Mother’s Day, Eugenia Gardos made a tabletop shrine to her recently deceased mother – surrounding her photograph with silk roses, a small white rosary cross, two votive candles and a prayer card of Senor de los Milagros, the patron saint of Peru.

The next day, May 11, she added her son’s picture to the shrine for the dead.

Sgt. Gardos was killed along with five fellow servicemen; Army Spc. Jacob D. Barton, Army Maj. Matthew P. Houseal, Navy Cmdr. Charles K. Springle and Army Pfc. Michael E. Yates Jr. in the attack on Camp Liberty.

“The first time he left for Iraq, when they would read the lists of the dead on the news, we used to hold our breath, praying he wasn’t on it,” his mother said. “I don’t understand how he could have died this way. I just don’t understand it.”

Sgt. Galdos had emigrated with his family from Mollendo, Peru, as a child and had been a U.S. citizen since high school. His mother, two older brothers and older sister recalled how he used to hand out candy to children in Iraq the same way he always did in Paterson – never making a trip to the corner bodega without a group of neighborhood children tailing behind, knowing he would buy them candy or a soda.

“We were all here at home,” Carlos Bueno, Sgt. Galdos’s father, said. “I was getting ready to go to bed when I heard screaming downstairs. I ran downstairs and everyone had thrown themselves to the floor, thrashing around, screaming.”

Bueno said he does not feel bitterness toward the man accused in the shootings, whom he described as “mentally ill.”

“We want people to know we’re proud of our son’s Army, but if my son had died in war we would be able to handle that,” he said. “But not to die in this manner.”
