When you have a totalitarian regime like Iran, run by a bunch of thuggish Mullahs, I suppose public hangings of the recent protesters and dissidents does a lot for controlling the masses.
According to reports, the harsh crackdown by the Mullahs on protesters from the recent demonstrations in Iran has begun. Public hangings in the streets of six Mousavi supporters occurred in the holy city of Mashhad for their roles in the protests.
No doubt there is great fear and a lot of discouragement among those who took to the streets protesting the fixed re-election of the weasel Ahmadinejad.
Sadly, it was only after widespread criticism from the American public, public scoldings from the floor of the House and Senate by our lawmakers, and the embarrassing fact that Fwance and Germany sounded much more “American” in their repudiation then we did, did The One make a somewhat anemic tough statement on the violence in Iran.
Obama, kicking and screaming, moved from “appalled and outraged” to “strongly condemned”. He never once spoke encouraging words of solidarity – those “We stand with you” words – to the brave freedom protesters in the streets who faced certain punishment and now, it seems, a hanging death.

It is really sad and terrifying to learn what is happening to Iranians…
And Obama invited their embassy staff over for hot dogs on Independence Day.

Yes it is flyingmonkey ….. but then he hasn’t really expressed outrage at the treatment of the Iranian protesters, so its not surprising. Sadly.
But I thought public executions were what we, as Americans, are wanting to lean to in order to deter crime. Crime of any sort.
I’LL BILL YOU FOR IT: The people of Iran are a good, caring, god-fearing folk, and the atrocities being foisted upon them are deplorable. As Americans we wish everyone had the choices that we do and cry foul when they don’t. What can we do? Are we law enforcement for the world? If you want to be then figure out a system to have the “host country” pay for the logistical consequences of said action whether they have invited us or not. Short of that then pending a rigorous credit check go ahead and deploy and we’ll send YOU a bill.
What Iranian women are going through is similar to the American women’s suffrage time period, though they are experiencing much more extreme and inhumane punishment. I fear they have a much longer road ahead of them. God Bless each and every one.
I find it appalling our government (President Obama) doesn’t speak out against such barbaric behavior. It’s as if the world is turning a blind eye…
This is a country that has public hangings for government protestors. It shows you just how backwards and oppressive they are. It’s really scary that this actually still goes on in the world in this century. And if there were truly an all loving g-d, do you realy think this would happen? And the “free will” answer is just a poor excuse for lack of a better one!
