Omar bin Laden in Mental Hospital, Hearing Father’s Voice

I guess it comes as no surprise that the 29-year-old Omar bin Laden has broken up with his 54-year-old British wife, Jane Felix-Browne. She took on the name Zaina Mohamad al Sabah when she converted it islam to marry bin Laden. And its no surprise still that the soap-opera that is apparently their lives gets even messier. Now Omar bin Laden is in a mental hospital because he is hearing his father’s voice. His father is the infamous al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden. Even worse, a woman acting as a surrogate for the couple has announced she’s pregnant.

Omar bin Laden has been estranged from his famous father for many years. He is one of Osama bin Laden’s 26 children. Now, just a day after the bin Laden marriage break-up was announced, Louise Pollard, a woman acting as a surrogate for the family announced that she was pregnant. The bin Ladens had been trying to have a baby since they first married. Pollard’s pregnancy is the result of a third IVF attempt. Pollard said she had no idea that Omar bin Laden had mental issues and has told reporters:

‘I’m still happy they’re having the baby they’ve dreamt about but I feel very nervous,’ Pollard told the Mail, adding that Zaina Bin Laden tells her the breakup is just temporary until Omar Bin Laden regains his marbles.

Jane Felix-Browne (aka: Zaina Mohamad al Sabah) said that the reason for the couple’s break-up is that Omar started hearing his father’s voice and checked into a psychiatric hospital. Apparently, he has been having psychiatric problems for several weeks prior to the break-up and him checking himself into a mental hospital. He had been spending exorbitant amounts of money and gotten over $5,000 in driving tickets.

Those sorts of spending sprees are typical of someone in the manic phase of bi-polar disorder. Hearing voices is symptomatic of Schizophrenia. However, Zaina bin Laden has said that she was in the car with him one time when she had to grab the wheel, saying he had ‘drunk 10 pints’. So is it the alcohol or mental health issues causing the erratic behavior? Or are the alcohol and other drugs being used to self-medicate? I’m sure they’ll figure that out while he’s hospitalized.

Omar bin Laden and Jane Felix-Browne married in 2006. They live in Qatar as bin Laden has been unsuccessful in his attempts to get a British visa.

Zaina blames her father-in-law for her husband’s psychiatric problems. She says, ‘Omar loves and hates Osama at the same time.’ She says she believes he suffers post-traumatic stress disorder after 9/11. It certainly wouldn’t have been easy to be a bin Laden since then.

Even though Omar bin Laden was in Mental Hospital for hearing his father’s voice, he checked himself out early and according to reports his erratic behavior hasn’t improved. So this is obviously a developing story.
