Money Flying Away

Money Flying Away

The question everyone is asking – other than people in the progressives – is can Capitalism support a Socialist agenda? The short answer is no. The United States is based on a Capitalist system. That’s why we have been the country with streets paved with gold. People from other countries wanted to come here because there was opportunity. If you worked hard and had talent, you could have the American Dream regardless of who you were or what class you were born into in whatever country you came from.

But Socialism is killing the American Dream. The evidence is leaves that reality unavoidable for even the most obtuse of us.

Sarah Palin tweeted earlier today to President Obama to please stop losing our future and stop with the histrionic declarations of doomsday if we attempt to balance the budget.

Obama and his cronies got their way with the budget debates in the last few weeks and were immediately rewarded with a drop in the U.S. credit rating. A first in the history of our nation. The ramifications of that will be felt for years to come. Interestingly, Obama has yet to comment on the S&P drop in America’s credit rating. I imagine they are still coming up with their spin (who to blame) and getting it uploaded to the teleprompter. That is another glaring lack of leadership. But that’s another story for another day.

Back to the original question, can Capitalism support a Socialist agenda? Read what Janet Daley has to say about that. Its an important message.

  1. If Capitalism supports Socialism in the simplest manner for only a minute then its no longer capitalism. Period.
There are no variations or degrees of Capitalism.
Capitalism, by its very definition, means free trade. That is all. That’s what capitalism is. It means that government stays out of commerce and industry, just as government stays out of religion, and for the exact same reasons. There is no middle ground to that: it’s either capitalistic, or its opposite: interventionist.
    Which means mercantilist.
    Which means protectionist.
“Capitalism is the economic manifestation of freedom” (Fredrick Bastiat).
“Capitalism is individual rights applied to the science of production and exchange” (George Reisman).
Capitalism, by definition, is “a network of free voluntary exchanges in which producers work, produce, and exchange their products for the products of others through prices voluntarily arrived at”
(Capitalism Versus Statism, Murray N. Rothbard).
The crux of capitalism, and so freedom, is private property.
The only alternative to private property is communal ownership or governmental ownership.
Communal ownership and government ownership are also called socialism. That, by definition, is what socialism is.
Socialism, as w know, at least implicitly, is the opposite of capitalism.
So, if there is government intervention, it is, to that extent, not capitalism.
The longer weve gone without realizing this the worse that has come while we complacently watch what remnants of Capitalism there are being chipped away at til we no longer recognize our economy for what it once was.

  2. America can’t support the socialist agenda, nor the world wide War machine either.

  3. @Mickey – and when we had a true Capitalists system (coupled with accountability) our nation thrived and was the ‘light on the hill’ for all nations. Now that Socialism/Communism is creeping in our system is collapsing and taking the rest of the world with us.

  4. @Tom – regarding ‘the war machine’ – our Soldiers are currently being required to perform social work duties with heavy weapons. Its ridiculous. Either we fight war to win or we do need to bring them all home. I agree with you on that.

  5. “America can’t support the socialist agenda, nor the world wide War machine either.”

Actually the military is meant to protect Americas freedoms, Capitalism being one of the greatest and all the freedoms that construct it.

    What “worldwide war” ?

You sound like a Ron Paul fan who has no clue as to the direct importance of our presence across the planet and just what it would mean if we brought home as many troops as he wishs.
This is why he’ll continue to be consistently re-elected as a congressman and never see the White House.
Although he would make an excellent replacement for Geithner as long as he can be gagged and stored in some cubicle.

Then again, maybe you hate his guts. I get carried away sometimes, :-)
