Daniel Nichols of Muskegon, Michigan, joined the US Army out of a sense of patriotism shortly after 9/11. He performed his duties honorably in Iraq and was eventually discharged. He is married to Ardis Nichols and the couple have two children, Mason, 5-years-old and Jasmine, 2-years-old. Unable to find long lasting employment in Michigan, the Nichols family became homeless.

It is being reported that Captain Richard Phillips, Maersk Alabama, made another escape attempt this morning when the lifeboat he was held captive in drifted dangerously close to the Somali shoreline. Negotiations with the pirates had broken down yesterday and had they reached shore, it would have been more difficult, if not impossible to have a positive outcome to this ridiculous insanity foisted upon on us by these terrorists pirates.
Capt. Phillips was not hurt in the rescue, and is now on the USS Bainbridge. Three pirates were killed and one injured during the rescue. The wounded pirate is in US custody, likely awaiting the outcry of the peacenik people (i.e. Code Pinko), about his rights being violated. Most folks these days have such a hard time grasping the concept of “don’t take what ain’t yourn”.
Anti-piracy expert Nick Davis stated
“They (the pirates) will learn from this. They’re not going to stop piracy in any way, shape or form. They will up the anti, they will get better organised.
“The only people that would have been shot here are the foot soldiers. They’re not the people that make the decisions and have the controlling interest.
“It’s now going to fall back to the chain of command in the Somalian network of piracy, both ashore and in different countries, as to how they want to up the anti.
“This is not going to send any message at all, apart from ‘now the Americans have been aggressive towards us, then we can be aggressive if we don’t get what we want’.
“It’s a very, very big business and there are hundreds, if not now thousands of people involved in this, in several different countries.”
That’s all well and good but being a Navy brat, I have a neener-neener attitude …. Don’t mess with the US Navy, Navy Seals, or any branch of our Military!

This morning three Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania police officers were savagely murdered and at least two other officers injured in Stanton Heights, a tidy and peaceful suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
One version of events has officers responding to a domestic violence call around 7:00 am, only to be met with gunfire. Other reports state a team of officers went to the address to serve a warrant and the suspect opened fire on them. Either way, 3 police officers have been murdered, and two more have been wounded.
The suspect, Richard Poplawski surrendered to police around 11:00 am. He is 23 years old and allegedly kept his mother hostage during the 4 hour stand-off.
Pittsburgh Police spokeswoman Dianne Richard said several of the wounded officers remained in positions where they could not be rescued or treated immediately.
It is believed Poplawski was monitoring the situation at some point. Police countered by having the utilities turned off.
Richard Poplawski allegedly had SWAT officers pinned down in an adjacent house. One SWAT officer was able to drag one of the wounded officers away from the shoot-out while being covered by other team members.
It’s been a scant 2 weeks since another violent criminal took the lives of 4 police officers in Oakland, California. I can’t help but wonder if Poplawski wanted to break that record. With hundreds of shots being reported, it almost sounds like a carefully thought out ambush.
Is it any wonder that police approach us defensively these days? What excuse will Richard Poplawski use? There is NO reason, NO excuse, for this senseless slaughter of PEACE officers. One of Poplaski’s friends Edward Perkovic, 22, said he got a call at work from Poplawski saying “Eddie, I am going to die today. … Tell your family I love them and I love you.”
Suicide by cop? Not hardly. Richard Poplawski is alive with several bullet wounds to his leg while 3 police officers, dedicated to making this world a better place have been slaughtered. I don’t advocate suicide, but if you feel you must end your life, be a man…go alone.
The three slain officers have been identified as Eric Kelly, a 14 year veteran, Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo III, each with two years service.
Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy go out to all those affected by today’s senseless, needless act of violence.

Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Calvin Bowman sentenced Jonathan (Jon) Staat to 5 years of probation this week in a Michigan courtroom. This is Staat’s second offense against children 4-years-old and under in 3 years. Read about this and see photo and video below.

Judge Calvin Bosman, remember that name at election time as the one to put back on the street. This week, this Michigan judge sentenced 16-year-old Jonathan Staat, a two time sex offender to no jail time whatsoever. Instead, he sentenced him to 5 years probation. Staat’s sex offenses were against children 4-years-old and under.
In defending his sentence, Judge Bosman stated:
“If he, in 10 years is to be a better person than he was he will be better able to do so going through counseling, finishing high school, obtaining employment, and hopefully carrying on what you and I would consider a normal life,”
Vincent Martin LeCompte of Muskogee, Oklahoma pleaded guilty Thursday, March 1, 2009 to first-degree rape of a 6-year-old in 2006 and received a suspended sentence. See his mugshot and read about him below.

Vincent LeCompte, 44-years-old, has been free on a $50,000 bond since June 28,2006. He had been charged with raping his then 6-year-old granddaughter. The sex abuse came to light when the little girl’s therapist informed her father, with whom she had been living at the time.
In this time of uber liberalism/anything goes/coddle the criminal/intimidate the victim, not much shocks me anymore. The sentence in this case did. I reread it several times, thinking I must have missed something, but nope …. the admitted rapist of this child received a 20 (twenty) year sentence …. SUSPENDED!!!!!
“We feel that justice has been served — the defendant admitted what he did and will serve under very, very stringent rules and conditions of probation,” Adair County Assistant District Attorney Shannon Otteson said. “There are restrictions where he can live, work and who he can be around for 20 years. He is required to go to sex offender treatment.”
“For her, it’s like being raped all over again — which was a huge consideration for us,” Otteson said. “She has to be our concern.”

Samantha Light and Stephen (Steve) Quick of Veedersburg, Indiana were arrested on March 5 after a child told her mother of inappropriate touching and pictures. Read about them and see mug photo’s below.

Stephen E. Quick, 31-years-old, and Samantha Light, 25-years-old, both of Veedersburg, in western Indiana are being held in the Fountain County Jail on $100,000 bond after their arrest just over a week ago. The two ran a babysitting service from their home until a brave and well taught 3-year-old told her mother about an incident involving the adults. The little girls mother asked her if perhaps they weren’t just helping her in the bathroom. The child said ‘No Mommy, they took pictures’. This particular incident is alleged to have happened on February 28th of this year.
The initial raid on the home produced several computers, cameras, a video camera, adult materials, drugs and drug paraphernalia. A videotape showing several sexual acts involving both Stephen (Steve) Quick and Samantha (Sam) Light with at least four different children between the ages of 2 months and 6 years was also seized. Sex toys that appeared in the video were seized during a second search of the couple’s home.
The two month old baby is alleged to be the couple’s own daughter. The FBO (Female Birthing Object) even has a My Space where she refers to herself as a *Proud Mommy*. Someone pass the Alka Seltzer, please! Her family is shocked, describing her as intelligent and controlling. What one thing has to do with other is beyond my comprehension.
