Fitna: Geert Wilder Video on Islam

This is the long anticipated movie about islam from Dutch MP Geert Wilder. The movie depicts recent acts of terrorism against Western society by islamic jihadists as related to verses from the Koran. We have been ‘protected’ from the images that so shockingly illustrate the acts of the jihadists against us. The images are graphic, bloody and hard to look at. Its the ugliness of islam and its impact on our society.

Islamofascists have tried to keep this film from being published. They are upset that the West might see them for what they really are. They will and do claim this isn’t islam. They claim this is racist and prejudicial. They claim it will give islam a bad name. I submit that if islam doesn’t want to be seen this way they should take control of their own society. I islam doesn’t like being depicted as violent and cruel bloody savages who are intent on conquering the world, then they should stop acting like violent and cruel bloody savages who are intent on conquering the world.

These acts are their acts, not ours. These are things done in the name of islam. When will we quit pretending we are somehow responsible for what they do?

**Warning** - Graphic acts of violence and the results of those acts. Some of this video is very difficult to watch. - **Warning**

Blogging, Civility and Merry Christmas

I am new to blogging. I am also late to blogging. So, to catch up, I have been wandering, exploring the “blogoshpere” looking and reading and being pleasantly amazed. The great thing about this is that here it is a place ( is it really a place?) where people who want to share or exchange ideas, recipes or just discover new shades of humanity can do just that. Blogging has given more of us a wonderfully democratic platform of opportunity, a voice that is not dependent upon the permissions of others to raise and raise it some do. Everything from pith to pornography, but there is smoke coming out of the dragon’s cave.

And so, I am also despairingly amazed. I discovered a place where hate and vituperation are proliferating. Right Wing nuts, Left Wing nuts, Middle Wing nuts. In this world it is hard to express an opinion without drawing the fire of someone who disagrees with it. That’s OK, but very often that disagreement is expressed bluntly by a hateful attack upon the writer. The best rules for discussion, Civility and Respect, no longer apply. Rants of screaming derision, slander, pomposity and arrogance, hateful attitudes that are all way too common in today’s world are also common here. Apparently the weapon of choice for the these intellects is the blunt instrument of hot, turgid rhetoric.

When did we lose the ability to have a civil conversation of disagreement? Today there is little requirement for politeness, no respect for the opinions of others who are strangers. Civility, which used to be the presumption is on a losing streak. If we are to regain our civility, we must as a species and as a society put this compulsion, (it is a compulsion, hate is not the result of reason) aside and learn to tolerate our differences. Toleration is not the same as liking something or agreeing with everybody. It is simply toleration. It is living with a idea that you might not choose to think or an action that you might not take yourself. Toleration does not mean anarchy or lawlessness but rather it is the hallmark of a civil society. Civil society demands politeness, kindness and respect in all things. Face to face it is so much easier to be friendly, but behind the anonymity of the internet it is so much easier to not be. When looking someone in the eye it is much harder to differentiate, to hate, to accuse, to belittle, to defame him. It is so easy when one can hide in the ether, that is why there is so much of it here.

I like people. I like strangers. My wife, Marti, will tell you I stop and talk to anyone on the street if given half a chance. To me, everyone is fair game for a pleasant or humorous remark. Taking the high road always means a climb uphill, but the view is superior. So while you are out shopping this Christmas season listening to the carols or enjoying the company of officemates, or friends and family, even a stranger for that matter look into their eyes and pay attention to what you see. Smile at them, touch them, enjoy them. Share your humanity and say thank you or even, “I love you.”

It may not yet be too late and it is contagious. That’s a good thing.

Merry Christmas!

I am Legend: The movie review from somebody that isn’t crazy (No Spoiler)

So I went to the 11 o’clock showing of this movie on Friday December 15th with my wonderful girlfriend. First of all, I want everybody to know that this is ZOMBIE MOVIE. It seems to me that the previews didn’t get that across very well. At first I thought it was going to be about a war because the previews showed a destroyed city. But apparently I was wrong. This is one of the new age zombie movies. Original zombies were created by chemicals created by the government that would hide a side affect of turning the dead into the undead. Modern zombie movies such as that of the Resident Evil and 28 Days Later series replace the evil chemical with an infection. It is known with AIDS is still in existence, and that science has not answered the question of how to kill the virus. In all the years of its existence, we still cannot stop it. So this movie really plays on some of our biggest fears.

Continuing on the movie, Will Smith plays a strong and interesting character in which he believes himself to be the only person left in existance, but yet clings to the thought there are other survivors. The zombies in this movie are unique. You will have to see the movie to understand what I mean, but they do have an originality to them in how they act that no zombie movie has suggested. There is plenty of action in this movie. There are some very suspenseful scenes in this movie. The end of the movie happens fast and leaves you with a feeling of, “so……Happily ever after or end of civilization? What did this mean?”

Actor Jim Carrey Speaks to the United Nations on Burma

Jim Carrey spoke to the United Nations Security Council yesterday urging them to stop all international arms shipments to Burma. He asked them to put pressure on the Burmese junta, the military rulers of the country now known as Myanmar, to end their lethal suppression of the pro- pro-democracy protesters as well as its detention of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

He appealed directly to Than Shwe, head of the latest junta.

There is nothing to defend if you have lost the faith of your people. It is already over.

Jim Carrey Burma

To the United Nations Security Council members and especially to China and Russia who have resisted sanctions against Burma, he said:

This is a government that uses its weapons not in self defense, but against its own citizens.

The time has come for the United Nations Security Council to start acting less like a group of corporations and more like united nations.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi: The World’s Only Detained Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

From the world’s only detained Nobel peace prize laureate: Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

In The Quiet Land

In the Quiet Land, no one can tell
if there’s someone who’s listening
for secrets they can sell.
The informers are paid in the blood of the land
and no one dares speak what the tyrants won’t stand.

In the quiet land of Burma,
no one laughs and no one thinks out loud.
In the quiet land of Burma,
you can hear it in the silence of the crowd

In the Quiet Land, no one can say
when the soldiers are coming
to carry them away.
The Chinese want a road; the French want the oil;
the Thais take the timber; and SLORC takes the spoils…

In the Quiet Land….
In the Quiet Land, no one can hear
what is silenced by murder
and covered up with fear.
But, despite what is forced, freedom’s a sound
that liars can’t fake and no shouting can drown.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been imprisoned or under house arrest since 1989. She has been released a couple of times due to international pressure but her periods of freedom have been very brief. Her crimes consist of speaking against the tyranny that oppresses her country and of being elected by the people to lead her country. She has exhibited uncommon bravery. She has spent her life in a very lonely struggle against tyranny.

“It is not enough merely to call for freedom, democracy and human rights. There has to be a united determination to persevere in the struggle; to make sacrifices in the name of enduring truths; to resist the corrupting influences of desire, ill will, ignorance and fear.”
~ Aung San Suu Kyi
from her 1991 book, Freedom From Fear

Stand with the Burmese Protesters

The people of Burma are struggling for their freedom and their very lives. Monks and nuns started a peaceful demonstration only to be shot and brutalized at the hands of the repressive Myanmar government. Still, the protest grew. The people have come out in the hundreds of thousands to stand with the monks and nuns and face the fierce and brutal crackdown aimed at killing the spirit of the protesters and any resistance to the regime in power.

I have read that many of the protesters are disheartened because of the overwhelming odds they are facing, but still they face the brutality of one of the the worst military dictatorships in the world. The people long to be free and pray for democracy. They are willing to face death or imprisonment rather than continue to live under their tormentors. It is estimated that at least 3,000 people have died in these protests.

We can help them. We can put pressure on the UN Security Council and China to put pressure on the Burmese rulers to stop the killing. We can use the power of the blogs to get that done. I’ve signed the petition here pledging that those signing will hold the UN Security Council and China accountable for any further killings.

There are well over 550,000 signatures now. They need 1,000,000. Will you help stop the killing? Will you sign your name?

Sign here.

Photos of the protests: [warning - don't click on these links if you don't have the stomach to see what these people are going through. Its brutal.] here, here, here and here.

Wesley Clark Wants to Shut Up Rush Limbaugh

From NewsMax

In a blog to the Huffington Post, former NATO Supreme Commander Wesley Clark called for Congress to immediately take steps to remove conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh from Armed Forces Radio.

Last week, Rush Limbaugh labeled any American soldier who supports an end to the war in Iraq as “phony,” noted Clark.

“We challenged Limbaugh through an email campaign to invite VoteVets.org’s Jon Soltz to his show and repeat these same insults to an Iraq war veteran’s face. Over 10,000 people responded and emailed Rush — but to our disappointment, he has refused to respond to our request.

“It’s time to put real pressure on Rush Limbaugh. His show is broadcast on Armed Forces Radio, and this time we are going to go straight to the lifeblood of Rush’s show — Congress. Congress has the power to remove Rush Limbaugh from Armed Forces Radio, and it won’t be as easy for elected officials to ignore our call.”

Clark further decried the fact that Republicans in Congress have drafted a resolution supporting Rush Limbaugh, “commending [his] relentless efforts to build and maintain troop morale through worldwide radio broadcasts and personal visits to conflict regions.”

“That’s outrageous,” concluded Clark. “Rush Limbaugh’s ‘phony soldiers’ comment should not be commended — it should be condemned. And it’s time to tell Congress to act swiftly to hold Rush Limbaugh accountable.”

What a slippery-slope this is! Rush Limbaugh has many times been the target of the leftists who want to shut down conservative talk radio and thereby restrict free speech. Their argument is that the successful talk radio shows are conservative and the liberal shows go bankrupt. They say it doesn’t offer the people a choice and a balancing point of view.

I call that what the people want to hear. If people wanted to hear the rantings of the left they would tune in and those shows wouldn’t go bankrupt. Its really that simple. But the left doesn’t want to compete in a fair market and let the people decide. They want to decide what the people want and need - after all, they are ‘THE Party’. They shut down Imus, who was enormously popular and successful for something like 30 years, because they didn’t like something he said. Its a very slippery slop.

I didn’t care what Jeanne Garbledhead said on her sedition radio show, I don’t care what Rush Limbaugh says on his. We live in a country that entitles people to speak their minds regardless of what is on their minds. People choose whether to listen to it or not. The consequence for being looney is that no one listens to you and your revenue sources dry up. Rush Limbaugh is not in danger of his revenue sources drying up. Obviously, people want to listen to him.

It will do us all well to remember when we go to the polls to vote that these are the types of policies the far left wants to put into place. They want to tell you who you can listen to, what you can say and where you can say it.

BTW - what did Rush Limbaugh really say? Check out The Violence Worker and this phony Soldier. Once again, the left is using our Soldiers for their own political purposes. THAT is unacceptable!

Democrats Manipulate Democracy and Censor Free Speech

Nancy Pelosi

The democrats have been on a role the last few days. They apparently have decided to do whatever is necessary to get their approval ratings out of the basement, even if it means taking on tactics that would do Stalin proud.

In this video of the YearlyKos Military Panel shout down then censor the speech of a Soldier. Little Green Footballs has the video. I started to put it here - but it’s long and pretty boring. The part you want to pay attention to starts at about 41:00. The moderator shouts he’ll come down there and they’ll take it outside, off the record. You can hear Wesley Clark in the background saying ‘oh no’. Then the Soldier’s microphone apparently is shut off. The audio comes back on when the moderator speaks and back off when the Soldier is speaking.

So much for free speech at the progressive hatefest.

Michelle Malkin points out a left-wing blogger who was at the even and wrote her reaction to the witnesses the crushing of dissent.

As the Military and Progressives panel came to an end, a young man in uniform stood up to argue that the surge was working, and cutting down on Iraqi casualties. The moderator largely freaked out. When other members of the panel tried to answer his question, he demanded they “stand down.” He demanded the questioner give his name, the name of his commander, and the name of his unit. And then he closed the panel, no answer offered or allowed, and stalked off the stage,

Wes Clark took the mic and tried to explain what had just occurred: The argument appears to be that you’re not allowed to participate in politics while wearing a uniform, or at least that you shouldn’t, and that the questioner was engaging in a sort of moral blackmail, not to mention a violation of the rules, by doing so. Knowing fairly little about the army, I can’t speak to any of that. But it was an uncomfortable few moments, and seemed fairly contrary to the spirit of the panel to roar down the member of the military who tried to speak with a contrary voice.

Meanwhile, Pelosi, Reid and Emanuel have canceled their appearances at the YearlyKos conference. I don’t guess that would have anything to do with the publicity they’ve been getting for pandering to the hardcore socialist/communist left.

Along the same lines, the democrats have apologized for manipulating the votes in the House on Thursday night. How embarrassing was THAT! It had an air of Chevezism about it, didn’t it?

Their willingness to manipulate votes and play adolescent games with the workings of our government should give us all pause. These people are in control of our government right now and they will get their way regardless of how far they have to go to suppress the will of the people.

All of this is so that they can claim to have accomplished SOMETHING during their time in office. They are pandering to those they hope will be their base. In the case of the third - world - whoops - the - voting - machine - broke - tactics they were trying to force ‘rights’ for illegal immigrants.

Hot Air has more on the YearlyKos fiasco.

The Danish are at it Again!

You have to love the Danes!!!

The burning of the prophet Muhammed

We declare:

Saint Hans’ Eve has always celebrated the tradition of burning away the evil, in earlier times symbolized by the witch, who was supposedly directly connected to Satan. And if the witch was not burned then the harvest could not be safely brought into the house.

Now a new evil has arrived in Europe, an evil that lies and kills in the name of their so-called God. An evil that springs from the so-called Prophet Mohammed. Therefore, in our time, it is he who symbolizes evil and it is not just one harvest that will disappear, but all of Western Europe’s future that will vanish if this evil is not dispatched to Hekkenfeldt [i.e. Hell, literally the Hekla volcano in Iceland — BB].

Therefore will we burn the so-called Prophet Mohammed, on June 23, 2007, in three nameless places.

We burned Mohammed in three different places across the country. We now release the video from the first burning. The next videos will be released on July 23 and August 23.

For a Mohammed-free Denmark!!!
