Jimmy Carter Continues His Love Affair With Hamas

Jimmy Carter

Would someone PLEASE tell Jimmy Carter that he’s not the President anymore??? What is wrong with him? I’m embarrassed for him and I’m not even kin to him.

I originally posted the cartoon above in January 2006, so this isn’t new behavior on this man’s part!!!!

The Washington Post

Former president Jimmy Carter plans to meet next week in Damascus with Khaled Meshal, the head of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, in a direct rebuke of the Bush administration’s campaign to isolate it.

The disclosure of Carter’s plans by the Arabic-language newspaper al-Hayat and subsequent confirmation by sources familiar with his itinerary instantly placed the campaigns of Sens. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) in a political bind.

The campaign of Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the presumptive Republican nominee, was quick to blast Carter’s plans and called on both Obama and Clinton to condemn the meeting with what the State Department lists as a terrorist group.

Both Clinton and Obama issued statements with milder language, saying they “disagreed” or did “not agree” with Carter’s plans.

Hamas is a terrorist organization that regularly bombs Israel and is an enemy of the United States. They receive assistance from Iran and Syria who have declared they are committed to the destruction of the United States and Israel and who are supplying weapons that are KILLING and maiming American Soldiers in Iraq.

A former President of the United States carries a certain amount of official clout. This meeting by this SILLY man will be used as a propaganda tool for the enemies of the United States and Israel. Former President Jimmah Carter is bringing shame on himself and on the United States though his misguided attempt to salvage some sort of legacy for himself. And I do believe this is all about HIM for him.

Its not wonder that his wife looks so angry all the time.

I can’t think of an example of a former President behaving so badly. T.R.E.A.S.O.N.

BTM with Right Pundits calls him a ‘dangerous coot’. HA!

President Carter is a disgrace to this country. It has gotten beyond the point where he is the crazy old former president who likes to build houses. The guy is now a plain embarrassment and frankly dangerous coot now.

Allahpundit thinks this is just too good to be true … for the election.

The left’s senior statesman, sitting down for a photo op with this degenerate in the heat of an election? After having only just recently quasi-endorsed a guy who, thanks to his associates, is already suspect on Israel? It’s too good to be true. Memo to JC: As an icebreaker, ask him how many Jews really died in the Holocaust.

Something … and Half of Something says this is a real opportunity for Hamas:

This is an outstanding opportunity for Hamas! Is it too much to hope for, that Al-Hayat will realize what a wonderful hostage Jimmy Carter would make? I sure would like to see a video of his sorry ass sitting in front of bunch of jihadis with a flag, some AKs and at least one kitchen knife. Yep, I’d call that a win-win situation, just think! Carter could give his all for his principles and beliefs, and we would be spared having to listen to the happy horseshit that pours out of his mouth every time he opens it. I’d call it poetic justice, and it would surely be a very fitting end to a very stupid man.

Beth at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is outraged.

If there were ever any doubt as to where Carter stands on terrorism vs. Israel–and for that matter, the West in general, including us–this ought to settle it. Hamas? I shouldn’t be surprised, but HAMAS? A former President of the United States is going to legitmize this?

ShrinkWrapped says its an unconscious hate.

Jimmy Carter is the Godfather of the modern leftist hater. He presents a pious mien, untroubled by rage or hate. He truly sees himself as a man of peace. Yet Hamas is openly and unapologetically genocidal. Jimmy Carter hates through others maintaining deniability of his own monstrous impulses. His evil is worse than the banality Hannah Arendt described because he should know better. The compartmentalization required to embrace the murderers of innocents while proclaiming their moderation is breath taking yet never seems to give pause to our ex-President. Jimmy Carter is a hate filled and bitter man and every effort he makes seem to support monsters. It is a mystery only to him.

Hyscience says Jimmy Carter is a friend to our enemies.

Slobokan’s Site O’ Schtuff has a pictorial reminder of who it is that Jimmy Carter is meeting with.

This time, it’s worse than overseeing the election in Venezuela for Hugo Chavez. It’s worse than rubbing elbows with Fidel Castro. It’s worse than inviting Robert Mugabe to the White House. This time he is meeting with the exiled head of a terrorist organization.

The Illusion of Democracy Dies in Venezuela

Jimmy Carter and Hugo ChevezWhere was Jimmy Carter today? Wasn’t he going to monitor the elections in Venezuela? If not, why not? He’d have been the man for the job. After all, he’s a self-appointed ambassador to the world and useful idiot for the enemies of our country. Surely his place was at the side of his friend and confidant, Hugo Chevez of Venezuela as Chevez took the Constitution of his country and turned it upside down, twirled it around and abbra cadabbra turned Venezuela into a Marxist state. Just. Like. That.

I’ve mentioned before how it seems that America is the only country in the world that has maintained a republic based on its Constitution since its inception. Today we have had a couple of pretty clear examples of how little power a constitution has in many other countries. We take the succession of power from one to another for granted in this country. We take our rights for granted. Our enemies within have to fabricate tales of having their rights taken away in order to have something to complain about. They have no idea what it is really like to be oppressed. Many in the world could tell us a thing or two about what it really means to have constitutional rights taken away. Putin of Russia is busily working on a power grab and Chevez has pretty much completed his power grab. I believe that he is now President for Life. Sounds like his mentor, Fidel Castro. So much for democracy. So much for freedom. So much for the voice of the people.

Don’t you know that the people of Venezuela and Russia must listen in disbelief when they hear Americans complaining about our voices being silenced? We don’t hear the voices of the people Venezuela or Russia complaining. They aren’t allowed to complain.

Jimmy Carter’s latest book is on display along side Adolph Hitler’s Mein Kampf in a bookstore in Amman.

Perhaps he’s not as irrelevant in the muslim world as he’s become in our world. Now that’s a frightening thought.

How the left led us into 9/11

WTCThe LA Times

The Clinton and Carter administrations made the U.S. look like a weak, attractive target for terrorists.

In considering a funding cutoff for U.S. troops in Iraq, the liberal leadership in Congress runs the risk of making the United States more vulnerable to future attacks, not just in the Middle East but here at home. To understand this, it’s not enough to revisit the factors that led to the Iraq invasion. We must consider the roots of 9/11 itself. Only by understanding the policies that sowed the seeds of 9/11 can we intelligently decide how best to proceed in fighting the war on terror.

Pundits on the left say that 9/11 was the result of a “blowback” of resistance from the Islamic world against U.S. foreign policy. At first glance, this seems to make no sense. American colonialism in the Middle East? The U.S. has no history of colonialism there. Washington’s support for unelected dictatorial regimes in the region? The Muslims can’t be outraged about this, because there are no other kinds of regimes in the region. U.S. support for Israel and wars against the Muslims? Yes, but the U.S. has frequently fought on the side of the Muslims, as in Afghanistan in the 1980s or in the Persian Gulf War.

But in a sense the liberal pundits are right. The U.S. made two gigantic foreign policy blunders in recent decades that did sow the seeds of 9/11. What the liberals haven’t recognized is that these blunders were the direct result of their policies and actions, and were carried out by Democratic presidents — Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

To understand this, we need a little perspective. Radical Islam became a global force in 1979, when it captured its first major state, Iran. Before that, radical organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood were fighting losing battles to overthrow their local governments. This changed with the success of the Khomeini regime in Iran. The Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was the first Muslim leader to describe the U.S. as the “Great Satan” and to counsel martyrdom and jihad against it. Iran continues to be a model for radical Muslims.

Khomeini’s ascent to power was aided by Carter’s policies. Carter came into office stressing his support for human rights. His advisors told him that he could not consistently support the shah of Iran, who had secret police and was widely accused of violating human rights. The administration began to withdraw its support and finally pulled the rug out from under the shah, forcing him to step down.

The result was Khomeini, whose regime was vastly more tyrannical than the shah’s. The Khomeini revolution provided state sponsorship for Islamic radicalism and terrorism and paved the way for Osama bin Laden and 9/11.

Clinton’s policies also helped to provoke 9/11. After the Cold War, leading Islamic radicals returned to their home countries. Bin Laden left Afghanistan and went back to Saudi Arabia; Ayman Zawahiri returned to Egypt. They focused on fighting their own rulers — what they termed the “near enemy” — in order to establish states under Islamic law. But in the mid- to late 1990s, these radicals shifted strategy. They decided to stop fighting the near enemy and to attack the “far enemy,” the U.S.

The world’s sole superpower would seem to be much more formidable than local Muslim rulers such as Hosni Mubarak in Egypt or the Saudi royal family. Bin Laden argued, however, that the far enemy was actually weaker and more vulnerable. He was confident that when kicked in their vital organs, Americans would pack up and run. Just like in Vietnam. Just like in Mogadishu.

Bin Laden saw his theory of American weakness vindicated during the Clinton era. In 1993, Islamic radicals bombed the World Trade Center. The Clinton administration did little. In 1996, Muslim terrorists attacked the Khobar Towers facility on a U.S. base in Saudi Arabia. No response. In 1998, Al Qaeda bombed two U.S. embassies in Africa. Clinton responded with a few perfunctory strikes in Sudan and Afghanistan. These did no real harm to Al Qaeda and only strengthened the perception of American ineptitude. In 2000, Islamic radicals bombed the U.S. destroyer Cole. Again, the Clinton team failed to act. By his own admission, Bin Laden concluded that his suspicion of American pusillanimity and weakness was correct. He became emboldened to plot the 9/11 attacks.

WTC at nightStill, the 2001 attacks might have been averted had the Clinton administration launched an effective strike against Bin Laden in the years leading up to them. Clinton has said he made every effort to get Bin Laden during his second term. Yet former CIA agent Michael Scheuer estimates that there were about 10 chances to capture or kill Bin Laden during this period and that the Clinton people failed to capitalize on any of them.

Between 1996 and mid-2000, Bin Laden was not in deep hiding. He gave sermons in Kandahar’s largest mosque. He talked openly on his satellite phone. He also granted a number of media interviews: in 1996, with author Robert Fisk; in 1997, with Peter Arnett of CNN; in 1998, with John Miller of ABC News; in 1999, with a journalist affiliated with Time magazine. Isn’t it strange that all these people could find Bin Laden but the Clinton administration couldn’t?

Two lessons can be drawn from these sorry episodes. The first one, derived from Carter’s actions, is: In getting rid of the bad regime, make sure that you don’t get a worse one. This happened in Iran and could happen again, in Iraq, if leading Democrats in Congress have their way. The second lesson, derived from Clinton’s inaction, is that the perception of weakness emboldens our enemies. If the Muslim insurgents and terrorists believe that the U.S. is divided and squeamish about winning the war on terror, they are likely to escalate their attacks on Americans abroad and at home. In that case, 9/11 will be only the beginning.

Jimmy Carter Isn’t New to Interfering With International Affairs

For those who think that Dhimmi Jhimmi Carter is only interfering with affairs of State because he doesn’t like what this administration is doing, you might want to look at his history of interference.

In 1999, he criticized the Clinton Administration for bombing Kosovo.

“I just hate to see us continue to destroy the lives of totally innocent civilians in Serbia in a fruitless effort,” he said on CNN’s “Larry King Live.” He called the air campaign “well-intentioned but counterproductive.”

In a harsh assessment of NATO, Carter said the alliance should have begun preparing for a ground invasion of Kosovo immediately after Operation Allied Force began “to make sure that (Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic) knew we meant business.”

Carter said sending ground troops into Kosovo would be “a better option” than the bombing he blames for hurting the people of Serbia but not Milosevic. He said he became alarmed when the bombing shifted from military targets to roads, bridges, and water supplies.

Then NATO General Wesley Clark had just given authority to hit broader targets in the bombings in Yugoslavia. Carter sent a letter to then President Bill Clinton who ‘respectfully disagreed’ with and did not respond to Carter’s assessment of the situation.

So Carter’s interference and attempts to promote himself as a peace negotiator is nothing new and not aimed at this particular situation alone. It is his pattern.

Another common thread is his preference for American Soldiers to be sent in with boots on the ground and allow themselves to be killed rather than run the risk of collateral damage in enemy territory.

Jimmy Carter Interceded on Behalf of Death Camp Nazi

Mauthausen Death CampIn recent months we have been made increasingly aware of Dhimmi Jhimmi Carter’s meddling in the international affairs of the United States. As a former president, it is unseemly to say the least, it is dangerous to the security of our nation at the worst.

In the aftermath of his most recent fumbling foray into the fragile and delicate affairs of the Middle East with the publication of his book “Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid”, we discover that he interceded on behalf of a death camp nazi in the 1980s.

From Israel National News

Neal Sher, a veteran of the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Special Investigation, described a letter he received from Carter in 1987 in an interview with Israel National Radio’s Tovia Singer. The letter, written and signed by Carter, asked that Sher show “special consideration” for a man proven to have murdered Jews in the Mauthausen death camp in Austria.

A copy of Carter’s letter the Sher can be found here.

“Also around that time, in the spring of 1987, we deported a series of SS guards from concentration camps, whose names nobody would know. One such character we sent back to Austria was a man named Martin Bartesch.”

Bartesch, who had immigrated to the U.S. and lived in Chicago, admitted to Sher’s office and the court that he had voluntarily joined the Waffen SS and had served in the notorious SS Death’s Head Division at the Mauthausen concentration camp where, at the hands of Bartesch and his cohorts, many thousands of prisoners were gassed, shot, starved and worked to death. He also confessed to having concealed his service at the infamous camp from U.S. immigration officials.

When Bartesch was deported his family went on a campaign to find someone to intercede on his behalf. They approached various Congressmen who dropped the case when they reviewed the facts. The family struck gold when they contacted Carter. He didn’t bother with reviewing or getting the facts, he just sent a letter stating he wanted in this case.

In the past I have generally thought that Carter was just exceptionally naive and one of those bumbling types who mean well but mess things up because they think they already know all there is to know about something. There have been times I thought he was just getting senile and was trying to relive his years as president. Then I went through a period in which I thought he was trying to revive whatever he thinks his legacy might be so that he can leave a more or less respectable chapter in the history books after all.

The more he talks and the more he is in the limelight, the more it looks like he is not just clueless, he is dangerous. As a former president he has cache with our enemies even if we laugh him off.

As a self-described ’strong Christian man’, I’m having a hard time understanding how he can justify being an anti-Semite.

Thanks to Night Rider for passing this information along.

Jimmy Carter: Conduct Unbecoming a Former President

book coverFormer President Jimmy Carter is no stranger to over stepping what is considered appropriate behavior for a former president. He has not hesitated to heap criticism on the actions of sitting presidents even though he had a decidedly undistinguished presidency of his own.

At times it has seemed that he is trying to garner some sort of meaningful legacy as a former president, seeing as a positive legacy alluded him as a president. He has spent most of his post-presidency as a self-appointed diplomat. He highlights the peace accords brokered during his presidency in an apparent attempt to make sure that is what people remember of his time as president.

Jimmy Carter has generally been viewed as a benign, if ineffective, former president until recently. In recent years Mr. Carter has upped the ante and his benign image is falling by the wayside.

Mr. Carter has stepped over the line with the publication of his latest book. His book is very critical of Israel’s role in the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. Worse, his attempts to defend his book have been nothing short of pathetic. He has the look of someone who is not accustomed to getting feedback from anyone but sycophants.

Today fourteen members of the Carter Center board resigned in protest.

From An Angeleno’s View of the World

The resignations announced today are the latest in a backlash against the former president’s book “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.” It has drawn fire from Jewish groups, been attacked by fellow Democrats and led to the resignation last month of Kenneth Stein — a Carter Center fellow and a longtime Carter adviser.

The members of the Center’s Board of Councilors wrote of Carter in the letter of resignation “you have clearly abandoned your historic role of broker in favor of becoming an advocate for one side.”

Jimmy really needs to go back to just building houses.

Israel Amasses Troops

Daily Times

JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced on Monday that he had ordered commanders to prepare for a major offensive following a deadly Palestinian militant attack and the kidnapping of a soldier.
The 20-year-old soldier, who also holds French nationality, was snatched in a raid on an army post on the Gaza Strip border at dawn on Sunday in which two other Israeli servicemen and two Palestinian fighters were killed.

Israel has been amassing troops on the border to prepare for any retaliatory operations after Sunday’s assault by gunmen who tunnelled their way under the border and attacked the post with rockets and bombs. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the attack while the Hamas-led Palestinian government, boycotted by both Israel and the West as a terrorist organisation, has demanded the immediate release of the soldier.

However, a representative of the Popular Resistance Committees, the armed wing of Hamas, said in a telephone call that it was holding the soldier. “He is alive and in good health,” the representative of the group said. “He is not seriously injured.”

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Olmert’s official number two, said it was Israel’s “natural and legitimate right” to use military force in an effort to retrieve the missing soldier.

A high-ranking security official also said that Israel would work to topple the Hamas-led government – boycotted financially and politically by the West since taking office in March – unless the soldier is released alive. “We will make sure that the Hamas government ceases to operate if the kidnapped soldier is not returned to us alive,” the source said. Agencies

The 20-year-old soldier is Cpl. Gilad Shalit (pictured above). Israeli troops destroyed the tunnel the Palestinians used Sunday at an Israeli army post in Kerem Shalom on.

Independant Online

An editorial in Maariv newspaper said that regardless of whether Shalit was returned alive, it was “impossible to overestimate the severity of yesterday’s incident”.

“Hamas’s audacity, the killing and the kidnapping are the final and absolute proof that the organization ruling the Palestinian Authority is adhering to the path of war against us. The tahdiya (truce) is dead.

“Any any further escalation, if one should take place, would be immersed in a great deal of blood that would be spilled on both sides.”

This is a real crisis although some seem to be pretty indifferent about it. I think people are so used to hearing about conflict between Israel and Palestine they see it as just another day. But it’s not.

Israel has amassed a huge force at the border with Palestine and have demanded Cpl. Shalit be returned without further harm. The Palestinians are making their own demands that prisoners in Israel be released.

They seem to miss the point that Palestinians in prison in Israel are there because they have attempted to do harm to Israel while the Cpl was taken in a raid while he was on his own side of the border.

Throughout history, at least as long as I can remember, there have been numerous attempts to find Peace in the Middle East. Presidents and leaders throughout the world have held peace talks. Periodically one or the other declares success with these talks, President Jimmy Carter did, and inevitably Palestine breaks whatever treaty they have come to and the fight is on again.

It’s naive to think that peace talks will ever work, in my opinion. Palestine is very clear that they want nothing less than the complete destruction of Israel. Short of that, this cycle will continue. Israel has the capacity to destroy Palestine but not the cruelty to do it. Palestine has the cruelty and desire to destroy Israel, but not the capacity to do it.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has rejected the Palestinian demands and continue to demand the release of the Cpl.

“The time is approaching for a comprehensive, sharp and severe Israeli operation. We will not wait forever,” he said. “We will not become a target of Hamas-terrorist blackmail.”

He also said:

“I announce here that we will respond. We will respond toward any terrorist, any terrorist organization, wherever they may be. You know, and they know that we can reach them in far-off places, even when they think they are hidden and protected,”

Egypt is trying to difuse the crisis.

It doesn’t look like Israel is going to blink. I don’t think Palestine will because their people are clammering in the streets and they are lead by a bunch of hooligans.

Keep your eye on Israel and Palestine. This stand-off could very easily have far reaching ramifications. The next few days will tell us a lot about how to resolve crisises with radical muslims. Israel knows how to deal with the threat of intimidation by radical muslims.

The only hope for this young Soldier is if Israel can put the fear of God into the Palestinian terrorists [or allah as the case may be]. It’s horrible to think of what he is going through tonight.

UPDATE: The Aksa Martyrs Brigades announced on Sunday that its members have succeeded in manufacturing chemical and biological weapons. From the Jeruselum Post:

The group said its members would not hesitate to add the new weapons to Kassam rockets that are being fired at Israeli communities almost every day. It also threatened to use the weapons against IDF soldiers if Israel carried out its threats to invade the Gaza Strip.

“We want to tell [Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert and [Defense Minister Amir] Peretz that your threats don’t frighten us,” the leaflet said.

“We will surprise you with our new weapons the moment the first soldier sets foot in the Gaza Strip.”

Has Jimmy Carter had a Brain Scan Lately?

In all seriousness, there is something wrong with Jimmy Carter

When he was speaking on TV yesterday about his most recent treasonous activities, it took him 30 seconds of stumbling around to find his words.

But that’s beside the point.

I literally can’t find the article about Carter’s siding with the U.N. against the U.S. now …. ????

I should have posted it last night when I read the articles, but I went to bed instead.

I do think he is possibly having some dementia. He is being used by enemies of the country. He speaks of his meetings with U.N. officials and talks of his predecessors as though he is still President.

He criticized American Christians for siding with Israel. He took a swipe at President Bush’s Christianity saying he (Carter) believed in a God of Peace not of war.

Carter called Secretary of State Condi Rice to complain that he had made promises to unnamed members of the U.N. and the U.S. policy regarding the Human Rights Commission makes it impossible for him (Carter) to keep those promises.

I truly believe he is declining into dementia.

[I'll put up sources when I find them again.]

Can the Progressives Find Something to Hang Their Hats on?

The press, try as they might, couldn’t make a national security issue out of the fact that the Vice President shot a lawyer. First of all, the guy didn’t die and second, lawyers aren’t on the endangered species list. They might have made a case about the fact that Cheney didn’t have a Lawyer stamp on his hunting license and so can’t legally shoot one. By the way, what is the daily limit on lawyers?

On another note, isn’t Al Gore the gift that keeps on giving to the Republicans? This guy came within a Supreme Court vote of becoming President. If he had carried his own state in the 2000 election he would have won without all the fuss. Apparently, the people who know him best couldn’t stand him enough to vote for him. Imagine giving this bloatman any power. That should strike terror in the hearts of all Americans.

I haven’t seen the Muslims make any issue out of the video of the British soldiers flogging a bunch of Arabs with clubs during a demonstration in an Iraqi city two years ago. I guess it really doesn’t compare to sawing off somebody’s head with a kitchen knife. The Muslims would rather make a big deal out of cartoons and target the Danes who are pretty much harmless and can’t knock off any of them.

What’s next for the uber liberals? They can’t seem to find a real issue that resonates with most Americans. They even tried to push that hopeless, babbling dove Jimmy Carter to the forefront. We are all thrilled that Carter is in touch with the feminine side of his nature but this is a lethally dangerous world and we simply don’t have time for ole Jimmy. He is so out of the loop that he simply can’t be resuscitated. The guy is not only a national disgrace but is way past null and void. Maybe the Republicans will institute the draft and give them a real issue. I can hear the wailing now.
